In this video I have a look at a 2001 Nissan Frontier with a 3.3 V-6 that came in wit the engine light on. It appears to be running rough and I do discover a P0302 (cylinder 2 misfire) stored in the ECM. -Enjoy!

My 99 Nissan Frontier is doing the same thing but its intermittent. Code reader say num 1 Only has 88.000 actual miles i'm the original owner. Im Thinking its the injector also. enjoy watching how you troubleshoot problems..

Yeah I've got an 03 Nissan frontier overpaid for it 6 grand and then I put an additional $5,000 into it for the air conditioning never believe them when they say it just needs to be charged no that's not true but I can say from experience that even the most simple of repairs and upkeep maintenance is ridiculously exorbitantly expensive every time something new comes up and it's always comes up I am once again left asking begging the question what the fuck $420 for front brakes and rotors $1,300 for a clutch and flywheel and an installation it ended up costing me $1,700 to replace the air conditioning condenser and then as soon as he proudly displayed the newly installed condenser the compressor went out so we ordered a compressor installed it they neglected to mention about the high pressure switch that is very important so I blew it up bought another one also purchase the high pressure switch this time oh and some idiot thought it was a good idea to try to fix a leak in the air conditioning system with crazy glue or some such thing because my mechanic had to break the upper line and lower line out and then order me new ones and install them naturally at the height of the summer heat 110° naturally I would expect nothing less and I the list goes on okay but you would think that boy you know $5,000 in additional upkeep I should have a good truck by now wrong wrong I've been knowing I need power steering pump but my mechanics is oh well I told you I wanted to change the high pressure hose first and then only then if it doesn't solve the problem then I'll change your power steering pump so I've just been pouring and power steering fluid and listening to it glug glug glug out I buy it by the gallon now or I go to the hazardous waste disposal and get it there for free any rate I mean I don't know why I even bother anyway that's the new point but the point being a high pressure hose with installation $500 $500 for a hose I think that's about double the cost of the actual power steering pump I must have been a complete piece of shit in my last life because clearly my karmic debt is not paid off yet not even close

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brady Jenkins says:

My knock sensor comes up with every code too in my 02 xterra

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Biff Malibu says:

As an owner of a Nissan I am quite familiar with the money light. Knock sensor is a bi!@# to get to so I relocated it. Evap leaks are common in the vent valve and charcoal canister failures putting debris in the evap line causing purge valve failure is another fun one. It runs great but the money light is exhausting.

Out of all my years getting answers watching "professional" YouTube auto mechanics videos. Hands down you are the best, at first I thought well this is a little Overkill but stuck with it till the end and I will admit I thought it was going to be something different then proven outcome in a different direction. Very easy to follow and professional ! I've never subscribed2 A Auto mechanic Channel until now

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard Pope says:

Thank you for clarifying why you used the attenuator, that was very helpful. I would have smoked my little O-Scope. So, the coil creates an inductance spike ?
I need to find an attenuator. Great video.

I have an 02 mustang V6 that was in accident and sat for two years, tried to start it, all it could do was barely run and then died, had a back yard mechanic work on it, he put a new fuel pump on, after it showed no fuel pressure, the fuel pump shut off didn't engage, now on wits end, any ideas?
    Thanks
    Curtis

I got an old one Xterra thank you very much for the direction and how to check my injectors resistance and location sometimes you got to take the intake manifold off at stuff I've done it several times I replace all the injectors underneath

    Ĺl

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Danny Cole says:

Had a Mazda cx9. No codes but obvious miss. Relative compression was fine. As you know, no misfire monitor. So did a injector kill test. # 1 made very little difference. Ohm check revealed 85 ohms. 14.6 average. One was at 22 ohms so replaced it as well. Always gotta remember the basics.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Carl Williamson says:

Great diagnosis. I have 2002 Nissan Frontier with P0301. Going to troubleshoot when I have time. Thanks for the video.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sean Sinha says:

The knock sensor code on the Nissan is on 100% of the time. They bury the thing under the intake manifold and its a PITA to get out. Best thing to do is cut the wires at the harness going to the knock sensor and hook into another knock sensor that is mounted topside so it can easily be replaced when it fails.

i have a 1998 nissan that will just die at a light or a stop sign. I put it in park and it will start again. It drives for a while then does it again.. What could be the cause?

I’m pretty sure they also made the original ramen noodles 🤣

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Albert Eller says:

Do you study a lot of wiring diagrams for different vehicles or all they basically the same? You can lose me and the wiring situation in about five seconds but it takes about two seconds for me to screw up putting a lightbulb in. Another great job great camerawork love watching you work and scratching your head but that’s what pros do thanks very much

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Freedom Grower says:

what was the tool you used in the beginning to see if the distributor was sending current to the plug wire?

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Warren Albert says:

Good video but tell me. Can it be an injector too if it only miss fires when it is cold? When it warms up, it is ok or when you give it the gas and is cold also good. Just miss firing when cold at idle. And no rpm difference when I take out #6 plug wire, completely dead. Give it the gas on take off and then runs great.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Cyrus Moser says:

    Well dome sir. Thank you

hey i love ur videos i have a question im woring on a 2006 nissan armada v8 i have 2 codes one is a p0300 & a p1564 together truck has no power like is clogged up and yes it has two new catalytic converter please help if u can thank u . angel

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bill Smith says:

Good to see the thought process . Even though it is most likely a bad injector , you still left open the possibility of a corroded connector . That is what separates you from the pack . Take it to the end , no guessing . Some shops would put in all six injectors if a connector was corroded .

    P0302…

Hey Eric, I have an '04 Frontier 4×4 crew-cab, normally aspirated V6 with 170k mi and the same P0302 misfire: except it's been intermittent up until recently – only acting up when it's really cold out. (Regardless of eng temp.)

I've myself changed plugs, wires, dist cap & rotor, PCV valve, and had both upstream O2 sensors replaced: and the miss keeps coming back…

Now I also had leaking valve cvr gaskets (of course) so I had my mechanic change the 3 fuel injectors under the intake manifold when he did the valve cvr gasket – yet the misfire persists: PLEASE HELP!!!

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Victor Pagan says:

Where is the MAP Sensor located on a 3.3 litre engine of a 01 Xterra?

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mary Jane Famous says:

Thanks for this video!!! seems I have the exact same issue with my 01' Frontier 3.3L. #2 also. Saving me ,a DIYer a lot of time and money and frustration..I hope. Will be getting into it next week. If this works I would happily send you a couple bucks in appreciation. Do yo have Venmo?

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Will Dutcher says:

Finally a video that has good instruction. My Xterra is misfiring, so this helps me get an idea of what to ask my mechanic. I just wish I had the fancy tools and programs like you!
