At what point do you "re-engineer" the cooling system? I assume those lines are vapor lines to the back of the cylinder heads? I've just re-plumbed my transmission lines with AN fittings….
I didn't see this when it first came out, but I didn't realize that you should have titled this, devolved to the Red Green Show. But they never would have wasted beer as lubrication.
Distilled water for cooling systems, not only can it take more heat without boiling, it staves off galvanic effect longer with the differential Metals in the cooling system and engine. I'd be tempted to plumb that with a 3/8 Hardline and short hose connections between them. You had an actual t-connection, that would have worked. I would have gotten them at least made in Black. That white plastic I'm surprised lasted anytime at all that's why it's a vacuum connector, not a coolant connector.
They always said that if you checked out a mechanicโs vehicle it would be the most jury rigged. An electricianโs house would have the biggest rats nest of wiring.
"Reverse Click and Forward Click" comments went out of the window on a personal vehicle 'fix'. However, Ray keeps Calm and Carries On in a personal crisis with his 292K mileage clunker. This is not only a great post, it's an inspiration to all.
There was a new Y fitting in the box you opened. Looked almost identical to the one you broke. You're not alone not seeing something that's right in front of you. I do it all the time!
You either edit a lot of have a inhuman amount of patience,,,, I would have to create silent movies.. because I just don't.. and aquired my language from the infantry and trucking..
I was in the middle of no where and the nut to the wire on the starter to my APU came off. So I used a a zip tie. It worked and about 6 months later was at the shop getting its oil changed when the mechanic saw it and said what genius did this shit. I told him I forgot I had done it and it worked this long so yeah, proof of concept and thank you for the compliment.
I love when people think buying a mechanics car is a good thing. I'm a mechanic myself an my ride is like this tahoe. I have a little rigging under the hood myself. The last thing I wanna do after work is fix my own car. But I bet with that motor that thing screams.
Cold air intake: Plumbing PVC Appropriate sized hose clamp: Duct tape mod Missing Y fitting: Masonry drill bit mod Lube: spare Bud Light Not touching it again for 2 years because it works: Priceless
Now the next time a customer brings you a car with the zip tie mod or the 200 MPH tape mod, think back to this day. . . and remember, you call "this" ingenuity! Well done.
Call AAA

'Give me back my socket', been there. Many times. LOL
I've just used a few drops of engine oil off the dipstick to lube these sort of repairs. I love the bud light though.

I like your style!!! Just remember the old saying: A cobbler never wears new shoes so a mechanic never has a new vehicle!!!
I will say, been there!!!
Done That!!!
Great job Ray,and the truck had a beer!
I value function over form every day of the week. Excellent recovery from a bad situation. And, I agree with others, only good use for Bud Light.

Ok ray, DRINK THE BEER AND THEN SPIT TO LUBRICATE! Any good tech knows this!
I put an LQ9 in a 02 s10. Thing moved pretty good
Ingenuity aka duct tape, cause duct tape fixes everything.
We have a saying:
The tailor cannot fix his own split (I think it is "the shoemaker's son always goes barefoot " in English saying)
Ray that looks my repair work!!
What ever can go wrong does.
Did u bypass the coolant line on throttle body . Is it just that a bypass or is it needed
One wonders….has duct tape ever been used for ducts?
A great Government Motors vehicle…..
Pretty cool ray

Your patience is unbelievable! ๐คฏ
Odd way to flush your cooling system

Good old 100 mile an hour tape.
You should try Silicone hose clamps. They are much better than these ones
RAY LOVES HIS JOB- DO IT TWICE!
Bud Light and duct tape for the win!
Needles today it must have been a long night for you with not much sleep for you to fix this for the next morning. ๐ฎ

๐คฃ I can't believe you paid 500 plus for that Snap-On cordless ratchet kit. PS — engine heat kills those rubber hoses.

Terrible situation, especially with a child.
Not having the rigth tool for the jobb is how we all non professionell operates
Thought I saw a tee in the box, wouldn't that have worked as well as a y fitting?
I loved everything about this video!
