I've been waiting for almost a week for an intake boot that was repaired with tape. The part came in and I found that this 300,000 mile engine has more issues! If you missed part1, click here! https://youtu.be/xzOuRaKXcO8
Here comes part 3 where we dig in deep to find the rest of the engines problems! https://youtu.be/89YexHPNJVA

I used jb plastic weld to mend cracked plastic on turbo intake pipe. 2 months so far so good. I used the black one that says it fills gaps, and after getting the spot filled, went around the whole piece with a thick band / ring of it. I suspect multiple vac leaks and this was probably the least impactful one, but will have to smoke test to be sure it held. It held lung pressure before reinstalling but can't duplicate 10 psi needed. Figured for 5 bucks it's worth a shot (versus $100+ for new part) and better than duct tape.

In my 05 Accord lx, when the cold air intake started ripping from age, my engine would bog down. If the rip opened too much the engine would stall. Im amazed that car started and ran with the cold air intake hose entirely gone

If it's tight to fit use silicone grease. Why do American mechanics always a powered screwdriver? often it's quicker to use a normal one.

Duct tape seals air intake holes quite adequately applied in several layers; likely it is just a pos gm car, which has to have major work done to it to keep it alive.

One thing I don't understand, after replacing that part why didn't you run an engine diagnosis rather than a test drive and then print out the results for the Customer?that's the way we do it in the Uk.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars pc says:

that was a user changeable part. they probably don't care that it runs like crap as long as the check engine light is off.

You do know that when you repair such a part the engine computer Needs to reset fuel measurement allocations it takes a number of miles to perform that recalculation/ calibration.
