  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Noksus says:

that grease looks absolutely nasty on that plastic

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chuck Ray says:

Mean Green would make everything sparkling. Great on plastic components and rubber.

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Alexander Wright says:

Bad design. The box attached to the bulhead should have a water trap and drain. Do better, Audi!

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dom Fer says:

    Use 3m black sealer.

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Frank Jacobson says:

Dont forget to check the Cowl Drains, if both plugged the valley will FILL with water and that will eventually level over the defrost opening.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Daniel Clark says:

Most cars have a condensate drain that vents out the bottom of the car, if it becomes clogged water will start leaking from the blower area on the passenger side of the car.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Toto555 says:

Love the wiper arm removal tool!

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bad Wolf says:

Another nasty interior. Most disgusting part of the job

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Galen Vetterick says:

So she leaves the car and it is parked outside on your lot in hopes it does not rain?🤔

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars nox 333 says:

Don't you need to take all that glove box area apart again to watertest the new part thingy?

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jim Mousseau says:

I’ve never heard the expression “Bird cage Fan”. I owned a company that sold electric motors and pumps. I also sold these fans and the manufacturer called them “Squirrel Cage fans”. Is this a regional thing? Another great video. 👍

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Grosom31 , says:

Also why don't you have a scope on that airline?🤣😂

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Grosom31 , says:

Why do I keep finding myself trying to get a better angle to see further into an enclosed area, while watching a two dimensional screen, duh idiot, I keep doing it though as if I one day will get a better angle!😂🤣

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Alice Eliot says:

He really did leave the car running with the AC on while assembling it. Because "it's hot here".
It's really a "wasteful American" meme. I mean, guys, come on.

Wiper puller!what will they think of next?Alan

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Jones says:

The number one reason why the older Jeep Cherokee's floor boards rust out; leaves and dirt build up in the drain channels under the cowl. After a good rain, the water pools and runs inside through bad seals in the blower fan and fire wall. Also, the fire wall only has caulk on the seems; the caulk dries out and deteriorates and it allows water to flow inside. Simply clean it out and flush with water. Reinstall cowl correctly; windshield weather stripping goes over the cowl! 👍

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Jones says:

I love your wiper puller tool! I get to see so many tools that I never knew existed. Awesome stuff! Really helps a shade tree mechanic like myself!

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paul Horacek says:

My Q5 had a water intrusion issue. Now I know what the root cause was. Thanks for another illuminating video.

For anyone who need to test their blower motor and resistor, I’ve got a little trick I sometimes use, instead of using a multi meter I made a test light out of a 2 pin halogen H7 headlamp bulb, I connected I wire to each pin of the bulb and then small male spade terminals at the other end of the wire, then disconnect the main power lead to the motor and plug the test lamp in its place then when you use the speed control you will see the bulb get brighter the higher you go on the fan speed, it’s quite useful as you don’t have to try to read a multi meter while upside down in the foot well, and sometimes using a multi meter will show the voltage, but when you put a load on the wires the component won’t work because of a volt drop. Using the test light puts a load on the system so you can see if it will work.

The Vw/Audi group blower motors seem to fail more than any other manufacturer, since February I’ve changed 2x Q7, 1x Q5, 2x TT, 1x Seat Ibiza, and a MK 5 Golf blower motors, but they are normally not a bad job to do, a lot of it comes from poor maintenance as people neglect to change pollen filters, I assume the motors get hot from trying to blow the air through a blocked filter, it’s basically the same as trying to breathe while wearing a face mask and the last couple of years people know how that feels. Keep up the videos Ray, ive been doing this job for nearly 30 years and enjoy watching someone who knows what they are doing.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gary Mullenhoff says:

Typical, 6 screws to hold the glove box and one for the blower motor.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Josh Hancock says:

should have checked the condensation drain for ac

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Don's Junkmail says:

Sometimes I'm leary of using rattly tool on stuff like that…sometimes it will start right back to…on refrigerator that ruins catching that critical moment.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Terry Stearns says:

Some of the Audi's have water cooled alternators.. So it only make sense that they have a water cooled blower motor.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Terry Stearns says:

I can take my Chevy equinox's glovebox out without removing a Single screw.. So you really have to love this German engineering.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tim D says:

Just curious, is it just your experience or did you look at a reference on how & what to remove to get to the fan motor? Great repair!!!

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars RedNeckGaming says:

My first guess would have been the a.c. drain tube was clogged or kinked. Would never have thought of the cowl

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars RGP says:

I don’t know how you do can do this for a living. Frustrating. I thank God for mechanics.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paul paintshop says:

There's usually a drain somewhere in the trays, I'm surprised at Audi not having one.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dylan Hooser says:

There's your problem. It's an Audi. Might as well keep the new blower motor and replace the whole car around it lol.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Pulicci says:

I so wish I could find a competent mechanic here in southern Maine that I could trust with my trucks…. Where I could actually drop them off and not have to babysit the mechanic…. I’ve lived in Southern Maine now for 15 years and every time I leave a shop I’m thinking “ never again”. I have repairs pending that are beyond my capabilities and it’s so frustrating….. Ray, please move to southern Maine and open your own shop…

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Eric Mutnan says:

Its funny how all VW/Audi/Porsche cars have a small AC vent in the glovebox. Why?

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Coty Luckett says:

Ray can I ask why you don’t like snap ons 3/8” impact?

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars GROG SMASH says:

Wow! Great catch… just as you found the cowl seal issue, I was thinking "a little boy butter may help here" and boom you whip it out (silicone grease).

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Drewdownkali says:

So much easier on the mk7s. Toolless to get the blower out.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars GV says:

Actually the fastest fix would be to drill a drain hole in the bottom of the fan motor case to let the rain out 👍👍👍😳😳😳
And for anyone out there that happens to read this….
    It's a BAD JOKE …
JUST A JOKE Not a real fix ..
Although it might just work but Nope just a joke

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brandon Cook says:

Im curious what the shop thinks of you filming everything. I mean its good to do it at the same time it has to take more time to do a job. That said, if the job is done right, as it is, i wouldnt care.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars arthur lull says:

I am 59 i thought guys like me where the last guys like you 👍🏻

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Kuschka says:

It is the air duct. The seal between the duct and the body fails. There is a tsb for it. You apply buytl cord around the seal.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jay Baker says:

I like the fact u go beyond the obvious problem. Some people just fix the broken but not what caused it. You are good at finalizing the whole system assuring the total problem is resolved. Good job again.

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike perez says:

great job finding the cause of the problem. AUDI another design flaw good thing you discovered it I say again great job Ray

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars William Mulford says:

I just wanted to say that you’re a good guy and mechanic. You could’ve easily did the job like the rest and just replaced a part. You didn’t. You actually cared enough to investigate the issue farther and for that I would like to thank you. There are good people still 😊. Fan for life!

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Les Carpenter says:

To make a comment now is like well beyond the sell by date, but having just seen this story I wondered if the rubber beading (for want of a better word) has to be pulled up and onto the top surface of the plastic part. Those who have watched windscreen fitters will know what I mean. Just a thought, probably wrong but perhaps logical?

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scott Bishop says:

The Strap-on truck? Their prices shaft everyone. lol

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Willem says:

And again.. you solved a nasty problem.. Great Ray!!

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mikey says:

I learned so much from watching you work through this issue. Thank you 👍🏻

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars redbovine says:

I had water in mine from condensate from the coil. The drain stopped up with slime algae.

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars scott joslin says:

    Hey Ray- love your channel!
But I was very surprised to see you put the glove box face down !

    Face up man!!
