In this video come along as I replace a front hub / wheel bearing in this 2008 Jeep Compass w/ ABS. The job goes pretty easy 🙂
Please notice: this video is for entertainment only. Do not follow any of the methods seen in this video. This guy is an actor and has no clue what he is doing or even how to fix cars so it would be best if you followed a shop manual when fixing your own vehicle for the proper repair procedure.

why use a slide hammer when a 3 legged puller would be easier?

I like how you do them I’m old school and always take them apart and bring them to the 20,000 lb press and press them out but I run into the same thing with the race sticking to the hub and I found out if you heat them up with a torch and grab it with pliers and run the hub under cold cold water with the race pointing down that as soon as it hits the cold water the race will slide right off the hub !!!! Give it a try next time 🤷‍♂️

Hello good afternoon, do you know what the torque of the valve cover screws or points is since I am going to change the rubber gasket of a 2008 jeep compass? Greetings from Caracas Venezuela

Can you please tell me what the name of the tool is that you're used to break that ball joint free? I usually just beat on it or I have an old little kit that I can use with my wrenches or air gun if I can fit them in but that tool you had looked amazing and I wish I can find it but I can't find it anywhere

I am greatly impressed by both the skill-set and the number of tools a mechanic needs for day-to-day repairs! My goodness, it's almost mind-boggling!

I waited until the end of the video to say this but… Im glad this went pretty well for you. You've had a lot of little pissers up to now lol.

    Good

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars kuladeeluxe says:

I suspect those are really poorly made. I think I remember reading that about at 40,000 miles major suspension components can be worn out.

I Really hope he doesn't go blind for not wearing safety glasses, otherwise a great video !!

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jose Aldape says:

Hey what install / removal kit is that ? Mac tools ? Or if so give me a item number to buy one please 😎

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Acevedo says:

I thought the bearing/hub assembly was one piece? I did the rears and i just pulled the old hub off and slid the new hub on with the new bearing already in it. It isn’t the same for the front bearings?

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Camryn Loghry says:

Do you have to pack/grease the wheel bearing? Or is it pre packed

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sh Amo says:

name of press in and out tool please

Why are there over 90 people hating on this video? This guy knows his stuff and he explains it rather easy, some of you have to calm down on the dislikes

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kyle says:

I've always read that when pressing in a bearing, you ONLY apply force to the outer race. Why didn't you do that here?

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dana Crosby says:

    I need a slide hammer

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dana Crosby says:

Nice job reminded me how to use my bearing timer

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tinker's Corner says:

Eric O gets this job done in a half hour video, easy peasy. Me, on the other hand, have had every single problem that he pointed out that "Could" happen and a couple more. Murphy and his stupid law has been whoopin' on me with this one. Thanks for the video! I have to come back and re-watch it so as not to get too discouraged. (If he can do it, I can do it . . . eventually.)

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bo Harris says:

Oh and nvr seen you have to get a bigger hammer!? That's always a good day when the first hammer is big enough 😜

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bo Harris says:

So did it turn out to be the driver side bearing that was bad? I'm doing homework b4 I tackle a 2014 wth a bad driveer side. I'm going to change em both since typically one goes bad the other is likely not far behind. Nice instructions brother I will be subscribing and watching more

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Junior DIEKA says:

Can you share the part number of that bearing please?

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Question Reality says:

These are press- not strike-bearings . Knuckle should come off, then bearing pressed out/in (why it's designated by its engineers a 'press in style bearing'). (Otherwise seat and or bearing can be damaged. Failure occurs months later and not in the first week or two where you think it's o.k. and you 'made it happen' etc.

Watched the small piece of pin go flying. Here's a fix. Close your cutters. Fill the cavity with silicone. When it's dry, slice with a razor blade right down the middle in line with the cutter. When you cut things, the silicone will flex and hold the small pieces. Old electrician showed me this. Has worked for years

Why wasn't grease packed in the bearing?

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars eco nomico says:

hey eric. did you ever experience a vibration on a 2014 compass 2.4l only in drive while stop?

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Shane Harrison says:

Wow even that was different from the rear hub bearings

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Vincent Bozzone says:

Wouldn't you test the run out on that caliper before installing?

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Vincent Bozzone says:

Eric…just wanted to know I have become addicted to your videos. It's most interesting to me, as a person with moderate mechanical and electrical skills, to follow your logic and watch you work. You do a good job with the camera and lighting, plus the audio is good for an old guy with a hearing impairment. Thanks for all.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Edd edd says:

I'm having a problem with my 2016 compass does the front wheel hub bearing come with a steering knuckle??
