Great video man
Valve adjustment section of the video Came out Great Eric O super informative @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Good Assembly video on these Subaru Heads Eric O 👍 👌 @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Mrs. O…is smoking hot. Just saying.
The magnet tip is awesome!
I have a 1999 Forester with only 80k miles on it that uses 1 qt of oil every 100 miles. There is no oil in the antifreeze and the oil does not look contaminated. Compression in cylinder 2 is 120psi (with oil already in it) the others are higher 1=160, 3=150, 4=190. Not very balanced. A camera in cylinder 2 shows oil laying in the cylinder. I don't think its the head gasket because of no cross contamination. How is the oil getting in the cylinder? Rings or valve seals/guides? The engine is out but I have yet to open it. The under belly is clean and dry, no obvious leaks of any kind. Any tips would be awesome.
Big fan Eric. I have done this before but with the engine out.
My impression, compared to your other video's is that you are not a fan of this job. It is very finicky.
Nice work.
Güzel
Does anybody know the tool that he used to scrape the head gasket material off of the block?
Love these videos awesome job
Eric, your are an absolutely fantastic teacher and mechanic. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching this whole subie head gasket series along with many many of your videos. I've been addicted to your sma channel for the last month and look forward to watching your channel for many years to come hopefully. I'll be purchasing some of your shop merch and donating to your brilliant channel. Best luck for the future from your Irish fans down here in boston,ma. Kudos mr and mrs O. ☘
Six years later and still getting new views. That’s because this channel is awesome, along with Eric O and Mrs. O!
kudos for knowing when to back away. You're always teaching. 🙂
This video has the best instructions on adjusting your valves I've ever seen.
dad had a bluepoint valve adj tool back in the fifties said he didn't like using it . cant believe eric didn.t have any valves change when locked nuts
As always Eric, you da man!
Love you. Stay healthy and hang in there.😝
This is a very informative series; I've learned so much. Just watching a seasoned professional at work is practically gold dust to a DIYer like myself. You do so much – for so many. Every best wish from London.
Great video. Wondering why valve lash was loose coming back from machine shop.
I was expecting way to tight given material removed from valve and seat during valve job.
Thanks!
😒
When installing lip seals, whether with steel or resilient polymer for O.D., I always apply a thin film of RTV to the outside of the seal. This provides a layer of lubricant to facilitate installation, and it ensures that the seal's Outer Diameter will not leak.
I would gladly work for you any day. I don’t.like to just plow through things either. Well done sir !
What through the middle , with the permatex ???
i know exactly how you feel
thank you for showing the valve lash procedure
Subaru and Nissan use a lot of the same component suppliers.
What is fair price to have job done?
Good Job Eric sorry you had a bad day, I know all about a right mindset and car repair
Just picked up an '04 Forester that'll need head gaskets. I'll probably put the motor.
You saved my butt building the wife’s Subaru!
I appreciate you, the mechanic that did these videos: your personality, desire to explain well, and your clean language.
I really appreciate these videos; I've done heads on this type of engine 2x before, but watching this answered a lot of questions I had and gave me reassurance on the things I was doing right.
👍Good stuff👍This channel has tons of room for sponsors! Eric O. should have $$$ pouring in just for wall sign placement!
Best mechanic ever right here!
Articulate, well versed in all automotive areas and he understands the
Importance of walking away to reset the ol mind✊
I think automotive parts manufactures are missing out on a great opportunity here and hopefully they’ll start throwing the green stuff at him. Best channel ever, great talent, future TV show!!!✊
Glad you explained you demeanor. I hope things worked out to your benefit.
Sticking your finger in that stuff isn't just your habit. I am sure many of us watching do the same.
i had 15 emplyees for 20 years — the good the bad the ugly
It’s all good…we appreciate your company….videos are excellent.
go home, take a couple of bong hits, everybodys happy.
Not be bad, costumer will be happy. Needs to do best oil he can put in this engine! This engine likes the best oil.
Hi!
Eric…all of your videos are just awesome! Thanks for taking the time to make em and share them with us.
I had an 01 Impreza with the same 2.5. I had the exhaust valve guides fall at 58k miles and wreck my engine. Watching this tear down is a blast from the past.
You're so methodical and carfeul Eric that I obtain lots of pleasure watching this set of videos over and over!! Thanks 🙂
This mechanic is amazing. Oh my God , where do you find, what is your shop address,
That's cool that machine shops will accept the heads with valves, springs, retainers, etc.. I thought in order to correct the heads had to be off of it
great video I'm attempting a head gasket repair on the same car before winter hits thanks for this series is watched all of it and you don't know how much you have helped me understand what I didn't thanks Sir and have a wonderful day…
06' and up dont even waste time measuring valve guides and such R&R every time !
do you push down on the rocker arm at the cam end while you adjust them?
Would it be ok to adjust the valves and torque that sprocket after I put the heads back in the car? I'm taking my engine off.
Question. Instead of using the bead of silicon… is there a gasket to put in place?
Life can be a bitch at times, more often than not I'm afraid…..at any rate, top notch job on this car and thanks.
