've been here tinkering with this sunroof kind of running it back and forth. And and i'm watching it as it parks and when we get to the park. I can see that this area of the seal is a little bit more uh compressed than the rest of it and if i look over here. I see kind of a gap.
It's it's just not not sitting as flush as i think it could be against the body unfortunately. I think i'm gonna have to pull the headliner down and see if something on this track in here is broken. If you look a little farther back. It's definitely definitely coming in look at there look at that it's pouring in found it all right let's get out of here and shut this water off before i flood this guy's car nobody wants to see their luxury car looking like this this is not very luxurious.
Oh. By the way for everybody who was wondering yes all of these drains are clear. I have blown them out and cleared them and while the headliner was removed. I disconnected them blew them out again.
And i actually injected water through them. Which it does drain at the appropriate areas by the wheel well so and the front ones as well so everybody's doing what it's supposed to be doing. It's not a drain issue the drains do work. It's just when water's coming in here.
It's coming in too fast. And it just cannot make its way out of that drain in time it's just overwhelming that drain. I know what you're saying normal rainstorms are not the garden hose treatment. Unless you're in florida.
We actually have rain that does this.
We get that kind of rain along the coast of Oregon often.
Thanks for where you are now. Await to solve interested to see how get headliner in fixed in situ
I do not miss those Florida downpours where 35 miles an hour is plenty fast
Waste of time. Another problem unsolved
Southern downpours used to be called gully washers. Stay safe Brother
Boy do you get heavy rain especially during the afternoon thunderstorms like trying to drive through a lake.
Rain-man…..
Duct tape 😜
I live in jacksonville, do you have any advice for my 2008 jaguar xk coupe which blower motor basically stopped receiving power? when i start the car it spins for half a second. I replaced blower motor, resistor (twice resistor just to see) and all related fuses.
Good morning Ray
The drive is on cog off on one side, make it relearn the closing sequence. As many have said in the first video. See bowhunter's reply below?
I was stationed in Georgia, and yeah, calling Florida the Sunshine State was the greatest trick the devil ever pulled off.
loosen track from body,,, reset track to realign glass
It is funny how a U.K. designed car cannot cope with the rain saying that at the end of this week we are expecting record temperatures of 40 Celsius luckily the AC in my GM designed car is working fantastic
You ain't shit fir that lmao😥
Just dont buy a jag with a sunroof in gator country
Riding through a florida rain storm is getting wet in places you didn't even know you had. LOL
Just cut all the wires to the controls and silicone that roof tight. Job's done.
Meh! I wouldn’t trust this guy to start a car!😭😭😭
It has issues with compression? Maybe a little Prozac would help. 😉
hose teaser
My architect friends always avoided skylights. Frank Lloyd Wright said there's 2 kinds of roofs, those that leak and those that will leak.
Mississippi is pretty bad too. I live in New England and I've seen heavy rain here, but heavy rains in Mississippi (and Florida — and probably the whole gulf coast!) take things to a whole new level!
That sunroof was not Parking. First you should have tried the allen crank to see if it would manually park then recalibrate the closed position.
Press the sunroof switch forward to move the sliding roof panel into the tilted position.
Release the sunroof switch.
Press and hold the sunroof switch forward until the sliding roof panel moves slightly. This may take 30 seconds or more.
Release the sunroof switch.
Immediately press and hold the sunroof switch in the forward position. The sliding roof panel will move down and rearward to the open position, and then forward into the closed position. Do not release the sunroof switch until the sliding roof panel has stopped completely.
Your sunroof panel should now be aligned.
Every single Cadillac I have ever owned has had a problem with the sunroof trains either coming disconnected or play disconnected or plugging up
Welp, time to scrap it. It's jag. Fix or Repair daily Hahahaha
There's only so much you can do for a leaky sunroof. Replace the seal. Adjust the glass per the manual. I guess maybe, replace the lift arms.
;
Call that kind of rain" turd floaters " in Oklahoma.
Is the seal in backwards?
I'm still wondering if the seal was put in place equally and not tight one side causing it to be stretched and narrow, while the other side is slacker.
How did you get the headliner out of the car without pulling the windsheild or back glass?
Queues-a-theme-song-that-sounds-like-MacGyver-music-to-not-get-a-copyright-strike
Stick of Gum
Bent Paper Clip
Wet Match
And a timer with 2 minutes on the clock!
What will Ray do?
Find out on the next episode!
Say Ray. I wish I was there to help you with that sunroof leak repair.
Damn Ray so did you fix the situation?
Seen this alot working for vw/audi. Replace the sunroof body seal, adjust the sunroof position with a helper then perform a sunroof basic setting with the scantool. If the sunroof isn't adjusted properly even with a new seal they will either leak, or make a God awful noise when the glass is opened. Also make sure no water has gotten into the door panels, which is also very common with sunroof leaks. This can cause water to pool inside near the door speakers.
Wow, thanks for the update
I forgot about this car what’s taking forever to get it fixed are you waiting on parts
The double sunroof/moonroof did a pee pee on me through the map light fixture, because of a torrential downpour!
How much did you charge dude for labor and that seal??? That wasn't the issue. And your editing as always is spot on avoiding your mistake. But at least you may have found the problem. Still, love your channel bro. But dang ..
worked on a murano w/a leak. panoramic window seal leaking, sunroof part & drains good. headliner & sunroof assy removed out the back. not too hard, but being warranty repair got raped on time
If you look at reflection of the lights in paint on edge of opening you can see leading edge of roof has a slight buckle (ass cheek shape, see previous comment)
this is why i wont have a sunroof lol. when i was a kid we had a jeep with a sunroof. it was fine for a while then the screw that opened n close it stripped and it was super expensive so my dad got it closed and we left it that way lol. it would still leak a little at times but not much, and we wasnt in FL lol.
Owners son took car out and his girlfriend got the boys out, if you know what I'm saying, and sat on edge of roof and flashed a bus full of oldies on a day out to the beach.
Or something else?
Leakin' 2: Sunroof Booglaoo
Don’t forget to mention how much time it took, and how much the customer paid.
Are there torx screws mounting glass to frame can you adjust?
Thanks for "clearing" that up.
Is that piece of glass in the sunroof a replacement? Is it too small? The previous installer was like "close enough". The headliner; I feel for you brother.
It really must be dead.
wow this one turned into a time trap lol…i hate removing headliners
From what i've read Jaguars have an electronic sunroof motor calibration that must be done anytime that the battery is disconnected or the car has other electrical issues or the sunroof will not close correctly and will cause leaks. Don't know if that is true but I read it somewhere. Also read that Jaguar dealers charge around $1,000. to change/replace sunroof linkages.
And I thought you didn't have a thing to do……….
we get rain that heavy also in Oregon… its not all the time but it does happen here… it a downpour but it can last all day… but I do know what you saying ray… are you making another video on what you're doing to fix it man??
I dig the fact your making little shorts and different things to reach a different audience and get yourself out there to new viewers. As a year long subscriber I truly hope it works. More people need to be exposed to the most entertaining and informative automotive channel on YouTube. Keep on keeping on ray and don’t forget to have yourself a great day
Rainman Ray, always willing to do all that is need to properly correct the problem, except that rotted out truck frame. That was a lost cause.
removing that headliner must have been fun. YIKES
That's it??? I want a repair video and not I'm still thinking about it video!
I know what wrong with it! It’s a piece of Shit😂
Drove through a rainstorm so intense moving to Seattle I could not see 10 feet in front of me. I couldn’t see well enough to pull over. It was a multi lane bridge on I 5 crossing into Washington state from Oregon. I prayed there were no stopped vehicles in front of me. I was driving a fully loaded 14 foot U Haul and towing a car. Scared the bejeebers out of me. Yeah, I know about intense rain.
A window on the roof of the car. Worst. Idea. Ever.
Ray you're a better man than me, I would rather get kicked in the gonads with a frozen Mukluk than tackle that sunroof.
Other quick fixes only to be considered when all else fails… …
replace the drains with 4 inch pvc sewer pipe
Tell the customer to buy a rain coat.
Take the fuse out of the power sun roof and silicone it shut.
Install a roof rack add a small boat or two Kayaks.
2 bundles of Roof shingles and a quart of roof gum from Lowes should do it. .
Remove the old drip rails and add a couple lengths of eavestrough inside and out
2 rolls of Flex seal or gorilla tape..'
Hang a bucket from the dome light.
Accidently smash the sun roof on purpose with a hammer and then send to the dealer , let them fix it.
Ray, since I've owned 2 separate independent garages & I refused to work on any & all Jaugar junk, Rage Rovers, etc. The customer is alwsys looking for a deal cause they refuse to spend the dealer labor rate. My cost on replacement parts isn't cheaper cause I'm not a dealership & a considerable number of replacement parts can only be obtained from the dealer. My cost for oem scan tools / computer interface etc. Costs a fortune + updates & most of the customers refuse to pay the increased labor rate for those specialty required items. To me it's a looser + the agrivation level wasn't worth it. Now you take Porsche, Ferrari, Pantera, etc owners & it rains $ 100 Dollar Bills all day. TMP from N.J.
did you shoot some brakleen thru the drains?
I'm in Western North Carolina and right now we are getting one of those downpours. Thunder and lightning, very very frightening. I'm glad Kitty is in the garage.
Can confirm, live in Florida, did not question the use of the hose, thought that was a fairly accurate simulation of a tuesday.
No kidding about the rain in Florida. :o)
A lot of people were mentioning a 'relearn' ability on the rain ingress facility. Did you try it, and was it any help?
JB Weld the whole thing….sand and paint it…..
When you’re in a rainstorm in Florida and semi’s pull over to the side of the interstate, that’s some hard ass rain.
There was a comment posted on the original video about the proper method of replacing the seal. Working the seal on in the middle of each side then in the middle of those points on out until the seal is in place reduces inducing any stretch into the seal itself for a more even fit.
Hypnotic moon roof episode # 2.
Also known as a Lincoln LS body car.
overkill adjust the window by loosening the torx/star screws that hold the window to the track.
Dont tease me you, you water man
Com’n Ray, you know the fix.
I live in Atlanta…. I’ve seen that rain. Scary thought :: if I turn off my windshield wipers “ will be able to better or worse “.
At least usually the rain is warm especially in p cola during the winter at least when I was there
It also rains like that in Hawaii. That’s why I don’t buy cars with a sunroof.
Such a tease. Worse than a stripper.
Don't they have adjustments on the sunroofs some do I believe
Crazy sideways rain is what I use RainX.. Not the crap you put in the washer fluid, but the stuff you buff into the glass. I swear by the stuff.
This is the reason I'll NEVER have a sunroof. If there is a hole in something it WILL LEAK. At least for me.
Well there's your problem, ship the car to Northern California where it doesn't rain as much, always here to help.
British car designs work fine in Britain, not so much any where else. In Australia a British design fail was usually the cooling package, worked fine in sunny England with 27 Deg C summers. Not so much in Australia where you can be stuck in traffic in 40 + Deg heat.
To really appreciate British humour you need to own a Land Rover, I've got 2 of them, funny as. 😉
Dam that was to short 🤣🤣🤣😅
glass cut wrong
Sooooo, you leaving us hanging again. Come on man, foreplay is nice, but a fellow can get frustrated without a resolution. 🤣
Ahhh good ole Florida rain. Run from the house to the car that's 20 feet away & you're soaked everywhere but your pits & your crotch.
You don't have to live in Florida to have down pours like that.
The rain down there absolutely does it if not worse.
Did you chech the drains my guy? Also normal rain doesn't come down that fast. In case you didn't know….
How'd I do?
Are you saving the full repair for your next vacation?
Peace off cake whoehahahaha………..
Some dismantling job, hard work. with such a bright color headliner, not easy to keep clean, need the conclusion 🫣
No picture
it looks like the seal was applied slightly unevenly (slack not even on all sides and corners.) does not take much to throw off what is very clearly a poor design.
Without reading, I though this was my car and gasped!
Looks like a job for the Flex Seal family of products.
