Those bolts are purple because they have been installed by a Prince wannabe.
That car took a real beating, lot's of parts to replace and a few to mend. Insurance adjuster would total that car if they saw all that damage.
Interesting that a body shop farms out part of their work. Must not be a very complete body shop that I would not use.
How's that not totaled?

What is the insurance policy to total that car? My state says $5000 once the combination of parts and labor exceeds $5000 the insurance company totals the vehicle

The purple color is a phosphate plating added for corrosion resistance.

They got was called a brass hammer
This is 100% a total loss just by looking at the quarter damage. Body shop is wasting insurance money sending that to the service department without putting it on a lift themselves to see the damage. The inner quarter is definitely buckled. Some de-trim on the trunk interior would show that immediately. That right there starts you on the path of where those weld points are, and the trunk and aperture are probably sacrificed. Possibly even the roof. Rear of the aperture looks bad as well. Probably needs replacement just for the inner rocker damage.
I wonder if you can get the stains off your hands?
Confidence is knowing that if anyone messes with you, you can completely disassemble their car. Nothing says "you lose" like going out to your driveway to find a pile of parts where your ride used to be.
The insurance company should have totaled this car. Body damage us this cars name!!

I've done panel beating or body shop work in the past and we had to do all that work our selfs
Like doing air con units
Engine and electrical work
We never sent a car from one place to another
BUT if it was a complicated job then we would send it to who ever to get something fixed up
But most was done in our shop
What's up with the colored fasteners is it the insurance company
Wouldn't have thought that so many other parts were deformed under the "body damage".

I think the purple is a low grade thread lock. Probably easier to dunk the whole bolts at the factory
Not Sure if this has been answered. But those Purple bolts have a tamper proof (purple) coating. If that's broken your warranty is gone.
That reminds me of the other one that you did where you just pulled the arm off the nut broke off up in the frame and you had to re weld it

If that car had a locking glove compartment with a special socket for the lugs, you would have been screwed

The bolts got bruised in the collision.
Worked at body shop for a short time in my youth we used to say, "I could wheel that off, I'm that good."

Some cars just should not be fixed.
When did the quintessentially British "buggered up" enter the American lexicon?
those spindle bolts are splined. You're not supposed to rotate them inside the control arm. see all the metal flying when you hit them with the impact? you're supposed to zip the nut off and drive them out with a punch.

This car is totalled?
When you start putting it back together and the new parts won't fit, do to bent and misaligned holes, do you straighten it yourself or send it to the bodyshop ?

Nice part about suspension parts they don't need painting and color match. Air bag damage would have totaled that car i bet.
I like how car bolts are slightly tapered so they are easier to get on the nut/mount
