In this video I bring you along as I replace the center roller hinge on a 2011 Toyota Sienna. It is a really easy job with just a few simple tools.

I would have definitely rattle canned a coat of flat black or semi black on it.
Customer states: "Raw dog it!"
If the customer specifically asked you to paint it, then sure(as long as they pay for it!)
We could see your super non concerned face in the glass reflection.
I'd probably just rattle can clear coat the hinge before installing.
It's white bomb spray it so giving Toyota the reach around going to make Honda jealous
I do believe that the company I work for electroplates those hinges with zinc. 😎
Nice job,Hola Mrs O
Looks like it’s cad plated. No reason to paint it, except to match the color of the van
I would have painted it. Every shop has a rattle can of white paint lying around. It won't be the exact match, but at least it will blend in and not stick out like a sore thumb.
Have a good day.
NICE JOB DUDE !!!😁😁😁
Dang you made that look easy – Look being the key word. I know if I do it there would be a lot more cussing, Bloody knuckles & tools flying around the shop. TY for the Video Love them all.
Bugger painting it, it is rarely seen.
a rag taped over the paint might also be a good idea …
Oh the shame on you feeding the children cholesterol Chicken ,the look on Mrs O's face ,all her effort to feed you healthy, you had one job Eric ,one job !!!!
Seeing as you fluid filming the car ,then it's going to be around for a bit longer ? then painting the hinge would have been the better option, but if it's a brat hauler,I suppose by the time food and gunk gets spread all over the place,un- painted will surfice .
Did not know you were on Hinge.
I can't tell you how much I love watching your shows! You care so much about everything! I love how you "feed the children" with KFC and I see the price for that stuff is as stupid there as it is here in Canada! Oh, still waiting for the "Cooking with Mrs. O" channel! I'll be the first to subscribe! You both are awesome!
Someone lite a fire under erics a$$. Hes dropping a video everyday now. I remember it would take a week before he dropped. I hope Scannerdanner gets that flame because it takes him and diagnosedan weeks to upload something. There are really only a few people I really look forward towards EricO, Scannerdanner, diagnosedan, pinehollow. Theres 2 more but I can't think of their channel name.
Hi mrso Eric that was a good job man but that is a pain in the ass job though got to pull that apart just to get that little thing out that's what happens with these trucks never had one but I can see that that's a pain when those Things Fall Apart I like it
Love soup in a can chicken noodle
Eric: Mom's out of town kids. It's time for a Bucket of Chicken!
Looks like it is electrozinc plated…. it will be fine, outlasting the body parts.
Hey Eric!!! Fluid Film needs their own "Brake cleaner" sound!!! We live for those! Well I do.
Nice video. This one caused me to spend some money. I went and checked out that Mouse Milk. Sounded like some good stuff and what I probably needed when trying to get a rusted brake line fitting out yesterday so I ordered some. I had to use heat but it was a struggle since my torch kept going out because it was so windy.
TY,,,,,,WOW incredible very interesting super kool ,1st class great info.,, AAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++ again great video I liked it a lot ,keep up the great work.
I always give the customer the option if they want it painted , most decline the paint job.,
Nice
Nice Vid! My vote would have been for rattle can in black. It would have blended in with the glass, and no need to try and match the white…cheers!
I'd have informed the customer that it came unpainted and did they want it installed that way or option b, have a body shop paint it to match or option c, use the best matching rattle can in white or a satin black color. You would think those rollers would be more durable…that door is subject to much use.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
She said like, Ham and Cheese, Pasta and Peas. Ham and Cheese, Pasta and Peas.
good job!! even got to see mrs o……….
i started a mobile repair business 2 years ago and you sir are who i strive to be you are a great mechanic and a great mentor
Cat shot 😻
Umm, we could see your "not to concerned" face in the window.
Eric I have used a number of your videos repairing the kids cars . Having setup a Bend Pak lift in my Garage and have been a backyard mechanic from the mid 70s we have benefited from your expert videos as most of their cars are 10 year rusted Ontario vehicles. Thanks for the help. The cost of basic vehicle maintenance keeps climbing this helps them keeps costs in line. Now I need videos on keeping 4 grandkids maintained LOL. Rod
Naw, no paint unless they wanted to pay for auto primer and paint. The best rattle can stuff just won't hold up to the sun and salt.
In the news today: Eric O can’t find the hole. Mrs. O gives her reaction live at 11!
If you're going to fake a torque wrench sound you need to remember that your torque wrench beeps not clicks.
another door opens and another door closes.
Dust and dirt are the greatest enemy of these doors. I have a 2004 Honda odyssey, doors still working but lots of maintenance, speaking from experience.
should those be hit with silicone grease every oil change??
I work at a Yota dealer. If you roll down the sliding door window it takes a lot of the awkwardness away of removing/installing the hinge
Eric, don't be mad but I just read that the fluid film is good at protecting electrical connections as well. I sprayed everything under our chevy express so if it ever comes to you for electrical issues I'm sorry in advance. Older me might not like this decision either. My hope is that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
We can see your face in the window, that shouldn't be broken. You did not look very concerned.
Eric, do you not have a 1/4 air ratchet? That would have made that job so much easier. Hell, Snap-off used to sell a 3/8 drive that was really slender, and the torque was limited to something like 30 ft lbs. I can't remember how many times I rebuilt that before it finally wore out and had to BCM it.
Were you able to eliminate the creaking and groaning noise coming from the door when it opens and closes?
Love the Luna kitty!
Thank you Eric for showcasing "" Luna "", the little darling !!!! And she was very talkative and lots of rubbing !!!! It just melts my heart how lovable these kitties are, and all they do for you – guard cat, alarm clock, #1 mouser, and they always have good things to say when they see you !!!!! That was a delicate job removing and installing that sliding hinge, disaster is waiting for that one careless moment you aren't paying attention !!!! I saw that oven masterpiece Mrs. O. was making for you and the kids – such a loving wife and mom !!!! The hinge install was flawless, paint it ?? No, you fluid filmed it. Painting is just cosmetic, not a show stopper. As you said, the van will be worn out and the unpainted hinge will still be indestructible !!!!! I put new high quality shocks on my truck. My wife asked why I was clear coating them since they were factory painted. I explained that the clear coating – 2 coats – was to make them still look like new 5 years from now, and not all rusted from rock dings !!! She didn't understand – it's a man thing !!!!! Women get their nails painted exotic colors AND then clear coat them – same principle. 😀😛👍
Hahahaha… you had your Mike Pence moment with a fly on your head!!!
Mice have nappies, so I don't see why you can't milk them.
Sounded kinda rough when you operated it at the end.. I wonder if it's the cable that's making the noise? I bet there's a bottom roller there that's in just as bad shape.
Seriously, a Toyota?
Rattle Can White
That's not a roller, it's a dragger !!! It was only flat on the bottom!!
As we all know that vehicle will be rusted away long before the roller rust out. When they vehicle is in the junk yard someone will be happy to find one.
This is timely, my son's Sienna just broke a cable and I suspect that center roller may be a culprit like it was on my Hondoo.
Parts cannon crew must of taken the day off today. Good vid. IDK with the New York "We R Rust" state, I might have sprayed some white primer on it. Down the road If the customer wants it to match the van let him get the rattle can. Just advise him to get some plastic or brown paper and some tape and a good solvent based cleaner that evaporates fairly quickly.
Did my ears deceive me or is Avoca's most eligible bachelor back in the shop?
Oh the humanity! No paint and no torque wrench. Next you will be using Fram oil filters and harbor freight tools. Let’s have an Internet “conventional wisdom” intervention before it’s too late!
I had to do this same job on our ‘08 sienna a couple years ago when it started dragging against the bottom sill. I was curious how Mr O would do it. Aside from the minor differences in design between the years (the cable runs over in mine instead of under on this one) it was pretty much the same. I also had to go out and look at mine to verify it came painted black from the dealer so not need to paint or fluid film it.
My wife has driven it for 14 years now and doesn’t want to get rid of it until the kids are out of the house and she can transition to something smaller. It is a tank.
I was waiting for him to say , it has the big three point five.
I love a Toyota but Toyota has always had door hinges and handles that go bad. At least they’re all pretty straightforward!!
Luna makes everyone talk all funny! :~)
If it has nipples it can be milked!
Hey Eric have you tried any of that black fluid film?
Way easier than the Honda. Nice job
Hi Eric and the Lovely Mrs. O. Could you also use cavity wax if you didn't have the fluid film or grease maybe?
I was going to ask where Mrs.O was off to that weekend but that would be impolite. Informative video.👍
I'll watch this video again so you can afford to buy those starving children some KFC!
All jokes aside (unintended pun), if they make those mashed potato sides any smaller, I'll have to file a complaint for the Colonel to laugh at.
Wow Eric that's a pain in the ass
I usually give those a rattle can job to match before install.
My 2004 had the same issue except the alignment was off just enough that the middle point on the back of the door rubbed the body. I thought about doing it myself until they told me if I messed up the cable, the cable alone was $600.00. I took her to the body shop.
People ever complain about fluid film smell? I love it on my truck…
Fantastic . Sharing this to all my Toyota Siena Tarago Estima pages . Thank you very much Eric from Australia 🇦🇺
Nope on the painting the roller but telling the Lady hey kids watch them hands ✋️ cause it could close a bit faster not saying you didn't cause a caddy door got my fingers when I was a kid !
I thought Toyota's were melting away in the sunlight according to he shall not be named
It was obvious to me from the Squeak/squelch/squash that somethings amiss in the roller rail that may have ended the life of the rollers, far end of the rail.
Try to always treat the car as if you're the next guy to work on it because you just might be! Especially in a world of such high quality parts that we get quoting Eric O just because it's no doesn't mean it's any good!
Hey fellow today Mrs O said for lunch today it’s take it or leave it!!!LOL!!!!!
Hiya Eric
Love the BBB…bionic bolt beating..high speed removal and install. 😁🇨🇦👍
I doubt that is a show van with kids puking in it and such. The probably don't even notice what it looks like when the all pile in to go to soccer practice. Like you said, it will probably last until it hit the junkyard and is a 30 yr old van at which point someone looking for that hinge will discovery a good condition one and get a steal.
Eric,
Great video – thank you! I couldnt see your super concerned face but I could see the reflection of your super concerned face in the glass.
SMA#1
Paul (in MA)
What no sanding, priming, base coat, clear coat for a simple door sliding hinge would have only took an extra day of labor just kidding I wouldn't of painted it if I owned it.
This is a perfect reason why I never have automatic anything on my vehicles (except for transmissons). If it's manual it's easier to maintain and repair.
Every time we pulled out the mouse milk to lube a turbo wastegate, "You can milk anything with nipples."
Great video, definitely easier than my Honda!
Speaking of minivans.
How’s Mrs O’s new brakes working out?
No paint needed… Thanks
My wife's 2005 toyota seinna door cable busted so many time we disconnected it. Though the van is a IMS conversion for the wheelchair ramp.
Thank you for stepp'in up on your, more vid's lately LOL
I would have rattle canned it white.
Does the cat stay at the shop all the time or do you bring her in the morning and take her back at closing time?
Give the customer what they want. No paint = time and money saved!
hey i have same van same year model i hope mine is not bad
