Just so I understand,. There is nothing mechanically wrong with car. A sensor failed. 300 bucks to make a light to go out? Did I miss something?

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paul's Tool Review says:

So many of your customers decline repairs. Makes me wonder why they bother to bring it in and do the diagnostic? What did they think would happen? You would wiggle a wire in a loose connection and they luck out somehow?

Your Russian accent was so bad … I had to look away …. and block my ears …..

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Frank Daddyoh says:

I hated doing estimates … especially refused repair types… you give the customer the item that has failed , they go out and replace it themselves…..

I noticed ur tester was set for AC voltage. I thought that all voltage in a vehicle (except for an auxiliary 120v receptacle/inverter) was DC? Are there other AC systems in vehicles that I'm not aware of?

When I worked on London buses the customer always said "Yes do it". All I had to do was tell the clerk of the works who then booked the vehicle in for repair

who else tilts there head while trying to look at the wheel sensor lol

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Sh331 says:

Should you not have confirmed your test logic by testing for voltage on the other wheel sensor was well? Better than the embarrassment of replacing a wheel bearing and not fixing the problem? Just my thoughts…

I had a similar issue on my bosses work van, 2010 town and country. it drank coolant like a fish, im talking a gallon would last 50 miles toward the worst of it. The heater cores have a Y-fitting to send coolant to the back core and front core of the van, and they are notorious for the plastic splitting on them. On my particular repair it took weeks of me searching and searching after running coolant through it, and the split was in the crotch of the Y adapter, temperature gauge ran normal even if the radiator was nearly empty but you would get a smell of things getting hot. I don't know if the thermostat in these chrysler blocks is just really good at reading air or its too low compared to the location of the leak and thus it keeps a coolant level even when the system is low but it reads near dead on, unless you know the two spots it will sit you won't be able to tell. The aftermarket replacement fitting is made of aluminum rather than plastic.

Don’t be upset when someone doesn’t get it fixed at your shop. Most likely going to take it back to the dealer and be like, “wtf?”. Especially those auto groups that provide a service contract. I’ll get my tires, brakes and oil done at a regular repair shop, but if I’ve got a check engine light or anything that could be serious, I’m gonna drive 55 minutes and have them deal with it.

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars c5back9 says:

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Daniel Iglesias says:

How does a motor mount leak coolant? Is there an old leaky freeze out plug behind the motor mount? A hose that it’s leaking near the motor mount? Or is the motor mount somehow part of the cooling system on that model and make of vehicle? Sorry if this is a dumb question “comrade”.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kraken wood floor service Mcmahon says:

Speed sensors on locomotives are very difficult to diagnose sometimes. They don’t have a pigtail so if you have to replace oneto the farthest rear wheel, it’s a 70 ft run then you have to replace all the pins in it into the traction computer. They would often be fine at low speeds, testing in the yard.. but flake out at high speeds while pulling freight.

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars matttaylor817 says:

I want to say that having some ac voltage doesn't show that the sensor is good. I did a voltage test an all 4 sensors on my girl's jeep patriot. All showed ac voltage and the difference wasn't a lot. Ended up replacing the suspect speed sensor and all was fixed.

You're a hell of a mechanic. I've worked on cars my whole life and owned a mobile mechanics business for 3 years. Was troubleshooting a coolant leak on my old ford focus. Couldn't find anything obvious. My first thought was what would ray do? Brought the focus up to temp and found a crack in the plastic radiator. Thanks for the inspiration bro
