Why not just the intake, heads from the block first the remove it… seems like that could have help a lot.
Great video, one of these few if any videos i found where they left the tranny in which is what i need,i understand getting the little puny 5 speeds out with the motor but one has to be a masochist to pulls a big ole auto with a engine, just leave that sucker in there.
Everyone has their own style of doing this but when i do it, i strip that engine (unless I'm selling it) thats coming out bare, the less stuff on it the better and easier it comes out, great video again man, thanks for putting it together!!
Next time have one of the subscribers on the phone live to give you directions.
Scotty Kilmer, You don't need a cherry picker. Lift it out with your hands.
When I remove a Chevrolet truck motor I always remove the intake and water pump first. It makes the process easier, plus with the intake removed you get access to the upper bellhousing bolts
MIKE ROWE ….. Safety Third
I was expecting the screen to go black after you said.. (thing smells like gas)
glad you didn't have con rod sticking through the oil pan. tranny stick… its tricky. YOU KNOW…Patients
tool monkeys are nice. had one for 2 summers…. came back 3yr later, turns out he did not LEARN A thing… hate that for em.
I know this video was posted 5 years ago. But my engine blew the drivers side valve cover gasket while going 70 down the high way. Was already burning oil for two years. Tried to start it while in the side of high to get the the exit but the starter just made terrible grinding noise. And then after a tow to my house. I tried to spin the front crank and no luck. So im assuming its siezed. I already needed to replace the trans due to no reverse. Can you still take the engine off with out taking the torque converter off. And if not can you take the trans with the engine through the hood. Also what would an average cost for your two swap engines if the customer provides the engine and trans?
shouldnt you lighten the load off the engine by jacking it up a bit before zipping off the mount bolts? or did you already do that?
There's a reason that us mechanics cost so much. Im doing this exact same swap right now. But on a 2wd truck.
No idea what your doing LOL
South Main Auto is about to go rated R…🤣🤣
We’ve all been there a few times…😎
Normally I leave traces of blood on all the engines I've pulled. Gloves must help a lot! Great video of what a terrific pain in the butt this job is and these are far from the worst to pull!
After living in Vegas for the past 35 years I sure don't miss the rust the rest of the country has to put up with. When I was a boy in Omaha I can remember my Dad having to sell his 57 Ford two door wagon because of the rust holes in the quarters and front fenders. The car was only five tears old and ran like new., but he could only get $100 for it. When I lived in Vancouver my heart was broken when I watched the body on my TR3 disappear in front of my very eyes from the rust over the winter . My Karmann Ghia fared even worse. My Chevy truck I have now is 20 years old and the underside looks like new. No rust on the frame, exhaust, brakes etc. On the other hand working outside in the summertime sun leaves something to be desired, but for a few hundred a swamp cooler can be installed in your garage and the nights are really nice.
I do motor and tranny swaps all day for a living been doing it for over 40 years those easy to do in a day
i also installed a harbor freight 2500lb atv winch on my cherry picker makes life so much easier has wireless remote so so nice. and the trans tube clears
i remove coil packs and intake and mount my plate to the valley plate under intake to pull out
That bell housing was a fight to the end 😳 @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
21st Century Attention Spans only apply to 21 Century kiddos Eric O comment from part 1 US Old Timers Love the longer Videos More entertaining and Informative and Fun to watch okay Sunny these young whipper snappers now days Lmfao 🤣🤣 @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Lmfao Hannah grabs the camera and You grab the fire extinguisher and you both scream that's a good plan There Eric O 🤣 @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
The truck owners philosophy is, why change the oil every few thousand miles for $30.00 , when you can swap the engine for a few thousand dollars or so.
Hannah knows how to avoid those PC questions…good job Hannah.
Most torque converter seals 🦭 leaks are caused by the mechanic dropping it on the spine as it come s out either from the junkyard or in the shop when the converter is full of fluid I bang my head on the wall watching so called mechanics drop the converter on the cam as they spin it off 1….2…..3….. clicks. Drop and gouge and leak FML LOLOLOLOL
I can tell you haven't pulled alot of those particular engines before ,but that still don't change the fact that your one of the best mechanics on youtube
First step is to remove all wire's and hose's then you have nothing in the way
It's worth it to take the extra time to remove the transfer case
Must say…. your pretty brave….. using air on the starter selonoid
It will be easier to remove the radiator support in the front and remove intake manifold more rooms .I had broken the map sensor
Way to go! I like that you show the struggle is real for us laymen. Not editing out the parts that make you look or feel like an idiot, shows the truth, lol.
Why didn’t you just call the front end off. Radiator condenser core support headlights running lights grill trim pieces and that motor comes right out. Seems like you’ve wasted a lot of time screwing around taking other stuff off where you could’ve had all that off in 30 minutes probably. Just a suggestion.
If it needs another engine (and/or/probably a tranny), the thing is baked (abused/neglected). Nope, won’t do it …
.
IMHO, if it needs a new (another) engine (and/or/probably) a tranny, the thing is baked .. Nope, I won’t do it …
When a woman says “nothin” .. my answer “No comprende, not in my vocabulary” …
BINGO WAS HIS NAME-O AMEN, HALLELUIER! 😆
Good job Hannah! Nice work!
Goode job.

How many bell houseing bolt are in this transmission
These days unless i know the engine is going to come out easy from the top. Ill just drop them from the bottom just like they was put in, less time and messing around.
