Do you know how important it is to have your dash gauges free of fingerprints and smudges.. Why when you point to the gauges you press your fingers against the glass/plastic lens. UGH
No A/C in an EV = BAD for the main EV battery.
Not sure how hyundai do it but from my experience they use the A/C to cool the battery modules.
Just for completeness' sake, the 0.093 pounds of refrigerant you recovered is 42 grams.

My Toyota Avalon is a 2003, with 280,000 never had an ac issue, or any other non wear and tear issues, but for a Hyundia, ya that's par for the course….
Why not testing motor temp with ac off. So you are sure fan is coming on for motor cooling also. Now its on for ac and also cools motor. But what happens when ac is off?

Maybe cooling fan thermostat is faulty and it doesn't overheat as long as a/c is on as it makes fan operating.
Being that it's a hybrid, maybe the over temp warning was for the battery, which would be cooled with the AC when it gets hot out.

Ray love watching 2 years ago I had a A/C issue and I ask if he replaced those Valves he said yes I did but they wanted to replace the whole A/C knock on wood my A/C has been working fine
Another great video! Would like to mention some info on hybrids that viewers may need to know, hybrid vehicles use different a/c oil which can be seen on the underhood sticker as POE which is a non conductive oil. This oil should not be mixed with normal PAG oil when recovery or recharging. Finding leaks on hybrids should require tools like a freon "sniffer", and installing the correct oil without dye or contamination is crucial. Keep up the good work and educate people about proper auto car care.
Hey this is like our daily life in residential air conditioning. Not uncommon to go to multiple houses with newer Trane systems that aren't working, but that's just cuz they're a bunch of shit. I bet all of those Hyundai hybrids have the same problem during that period of production that's usually how it goes. Very interesting to see the difference between a/c being worked on in a car vs residential

Just a heads up. Electric hybrid compressors use special oil and mixing normal PAG oil can short them out, Some other things I've noticed are that you should replace the receiver drier when replacing a compressor as compressor manufacturers won't warrant them without doing this. With sub-cooled systems replace the desiccant bag in the condenser. When retrofitting an R12 system with 134A you should replace the drier and add enough PAG oil for the whole system. The old oil is not compatible with 134A and does not get taken around the system. Personally I would spend longer looking for a leak as you don't want a come back in a week with the customer complaining you didn't fix it. Schrader valves can appear to leak just after removing the hoses as there can be refrigerant sitting on top of the valve slowly boiling off. You should invest in a good gas detector for leak checking. We actually pressure the system with Nitrogen and Hydrogen trace gas then check with a Hydrogen detector. You can find a mouse fart size leak with it. Just some things to think about and consider so you don't get bitten.

Another great video Ray, thank you for sharing what you do, with us. I really like the way you explain what it is you are doing and how you go through diagnosing the problem then coming up with a solution. I guess it is all part of the job you are trained for but I think it is pretty cool. If I am ever in your neck of the woods (highly unlikely since I am in Australia) and my car plays up, I know where I'll be taking my next pit stop. 😉

The problem is it’s a Hyundai. As a previous owner of a Hyundai Sonata, my money pit went to junk yard. Hyundai makes poor quality cars that become money pits. Many recalls on the engines of both Hyundai and Kias. Don’t buy Hyundai or Kia.

I'm surprised if/that nobody makes a core replacement tool so you can swap them out without discharging the system. HVAC has had it for years. Seems no reason mobile shouldn't as well.

Might I suggest you tie a piece of coloured string to your thermometer to safeguard against forgetting it.
Ray, get yourself the Mastercool 58490. You can swap out any of these valve cores without emptying the system. I use it all the time. It's not uncommon to get a leaker after servicing a system. This tool prevents you from wasting another 30-40 minutes recovering, changing the core, and then vacuum/charging again.
