Emtying the bottle technique needs some adjustment? I used to squeeze the bottle especially if the customer/owner was in audience, to make certain they got their whole content installed!

Especially when it comes to sensors, never use aftermarket, you are asking for trouble, always use genuine products.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David says:

I had no idea that "limp home mode" was an official term that would show up in a scan. I assumed it was just colloquial.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tim Johnson says:

I've been going through that on a regular basis on my 2016 malibu. Crap builds up in the throttle body. From what gather its blow back from the valves. I was told to use seafoam spray in the throttle body to flush out the carbon build up on the valves

I've been watching your videos, but "Shift Control Storage Accumulator" caught me off guard. I'm stealing it, though I may have to re-work it as "Kikusanya kidhibiti cha uhifadhi wa mabadiliko" is a mouthful.

The one video where the owner of the vehicle never changed their oil, and those bolts rusted solid? I've seen bolts that bad but only on a Jeep, that was stuck in mud up to the bottom quarter of the door, for three days, in the Kenyan sun. Safari vehicles take a beating.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Peter Seidl says:

You are not supposed to use oil. You have to use body throttle cleaner, because you destroy the map sensor with oil… these are very delicate to chemicals (especially oil)

Hey no fair pulling a switcheroo in the middle of a video! I play these in the background while I'm working, so I can't pay close enough attention to notice there were two cars. 😂

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Extra Dip says:

A piece of rubber somehow made it past my air filter once on my mini Cooper S and got lodged in the throttle body so it wouldn't close. Nearly had an aneurysm when I pulled on to the road and all the sudden had no power

That must be a dollar store air filter. I've never seen a filter without the metal screen which would prevent pulling paper into the intake.

I wish the mechanics near me were as thorough. The number of times they've just looked at the first trouble code and not tried to dig deeper than that is very frustrating. At the Volvo dealership (because somehow the other garages can't get into the ECM when they've tried??), I think I've had to take my car back a second time for every issue I've had checked out its insane!

Hi Ray, I hope you are having a great day.

I have some food for thought for you.

It is possible that if you were to include some of the below listed information in the video title that you may have your videos reach a wider audience.
    – Vehicle make, model, year, and miles
    – What mechanical work you are performing
Reason this may increase your audience is that if someone were to search YouTube for keywords "Hyundai Sonata 2008 180,000 miles air intake issue" then your video would likely be listed.

Consider expanding your videos into somewhat of a how to guide for those at home perhaps wanting to learn how to perform similar tasks and even novice mechanics being able to learn form your expertise in the art of vehicular tender loving care.

I'm telling ya, that coffee scene had me riveted!

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars aussieaeromodeler says:

after watching this video , just out of curiosity I went out to my ute , popped the bonnet and removed the intake tubing from the throttle body . On opening the throttle , a ring of carbon . I used the method you did to clean it ……….the motor idles so much smoother on a cold start now ………..thanks for the tip Ray 🙂
PS. and if you thought that TMAP sensor was hard to get to you should see where mine is located …….I dont think you own enough wobbly bits to get to it lol
