That's a fun one for you folks. 2017 Kia Sedona It's got the Big 33. Got towed in because it left these fine folks walking. Starts Runs: No instrument cluster, no heater controls, no steering wheel controls.
Can't get it out of park unless you use the shift override. In which case, when you do, you only have first gear or second. Perhaps you can't go very fast. Uh I Checked it out.
Lots of Canc data bus coat. the whole Canc network is down. Long story short, we check it out. Come back to the rear camera and there's your problem lady.
She's all white and crusty. You unplug it. Everything is restored. Car works as it should.
So these features on cars are pretty neat. You know I mean your backup camera? Pretty standard stuff. You don't have to use your mirror look out your window. However, when it shorts out, it could leave you walking.
so just keep that in mind. Anyhow, you guys have a nice day.
It totally pisses me off all the nanny features that I do not want at all but the government employees that know nothing about vehicles or driving have made mandatory. If you can't use a mirror, or check your tire pressure you most definitely are not qualified to drive a vehicle.
Easy fix. Wire cutters, snip, snip, done. No camera, no problem. ๐
Thanks – fantastic diagnostics work! But big picture, this is ridiculous – these kind of failures should be linked to class action lawsuits to force manufacturers to build basic failsafe into their code. In other words – would the Healthcare, avionics, electrical grid, military industries accept this mickey mouse bullshit?
the car should never leave you walking.
wow , something else
A design that suffered from cost control.
I miss when cars were simple
Nice engineering there. Bad camera on the bus kills the car. I can't believe there's no way to isolate a malfunctioning item on the bus to alleviate this issue.
Thanks man
Good to know
If the government mandates that all new vehicles have to have back up cameras then the repair to fix those cameras should be paid for by the government.
Wow! I am glad my 2010 Ford Ranger doesn't have much technology on it!
Had a similar issue with a Chrysler SUV , the wiring in the lift gate broke apart in the hinge area, caused plenty of issues.

The drivability functions of a vehicle should be isolated so a bell or whistle canโt cripple it but what do I know
Wtf. Who would've thought. I guarantee none of the mechanics in my area would have found that. They would have started with you need an ECU, TCU, engine, transmission, just buy a new car.
Gotta love technology!๐
