2004 BMW 530i Check Engine Light Code, 2882, 2883, P0171, P0174 Lean Bank 1, Lean Bank 2
It's a little difficult to see this hose under the intake manifold with a camera that's why I skipped showing the smoke test. If you have any questions feel free to leave it in the comments and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Thank you after taking my 530i 2004 to some crooks they tried to get me for a switch in my transmission $154 part $4200 then an oil pan re seal $2200 I asked for oil change I did have a small leak by the oil filter nothing serious..So they changed my oil charged$125 for looking at my transmission I asked for a fluid change 188,k no check lights just needed oil tires and faulty I drive …They charged $810 for oil change install tires I bought wheel alignment and A.C recharge…They were trying to get me for much more but I knew my car was taken care by the previous owners…1 day of light driving Service engine soon light comes in with these same codes… Keep in mind I never had any lights come in besides passenger airbag after spilling soda on the seat…. Mechanic shops are not here to help you … Lucky I will never take my car back to these Quacks
Where could I find these hoses
It's a crappy BMW, do you need to reprogram the car to "accept" the new pipe?
The oldest video I've ever seen for you.
Imagine paying this much for a car and this stuff happens.
Спасибо. Я так и думал.
Good vid
We need more of these…
Had an E46 with that same M54 engine. The engineer/designer of the PVC or PCC or PVV… whatever BMW calls it (CCV!), is evil. Those hoses and pipes and the separator itself fails after some time due to the heat (environment or engine). And such a PAIN to get to. I'm very surprised it was only that pipe. Usually if one goes, the other will follow very shortly. And the DISA unit… I'm almost positive i bent a rod on a miss or detonation from that thing leaking (built-in gasket shrinks as it ages and leaks, and don't ever remove an older one unless you silicone it to death or replace it with a new unit). Strong engine, but its supplemental systems, holy hell!
Great place for me to Start, i have 2004 Z4 3.0i popping same 2 codes,2882 and 2883, ièm going to look in to these hoses tomorrow, appreciate the starting point, Great Video
Hey I have a question for you umm I have a 2004 x3 2.5i i changed the same parts as u and i did the diagnosis and it says DME: Mixture preparation bank 1 and bank 2
Hello Dr. O!! 😜
I have both lean codes on my 2004 525i. I also have a small oil leak somewhere. Maybe if that same hose is the culprit it could leak oil near the dipstick end? I'm going to check but it's too cold right now (10 deg F outside)!
Thanks for the tip great video
does effect the transmission performance?
The diagram is a perfect BMW example of "over engineered."
Hey there, I have the same car 530i 2006 will the pcv Val e be on the same location as this one ?
Another problem these have is they freeze. And then the engine sucks oil…
There's a isolated version I'd put in if I change anything on the system.
great work but you have show us the smoke machine work ?
Thanks for the tip!
I have a question for you my car a 2005 bmw 530i e60 has that same code the bank too lean or something like that. what should I do? or do you happen to know how much a mechanic would charge to fix something like thay?
Hi Eric, Just subscribed to your videos. Great job. I am a retired mechanic of 40 years. I have learned a lot from watching what you do. So when you think you know it all, guess what, you don't. Continue the good work.
Can't believe you touched that thing with a 10-foot pole! Customer received the proper "Euro surcharge" on the invoice right?
Eric you should have seen my wife's Peugeot 505………………..Wasn't NOTHING on that thing cheap to fix!
Doctor O?…………………..LOL
hello Eric thanks for your videos they are great help I got a question I got a code p0171 bank one that code came up after cleaning the catalytic converter I was getting codes p0431/p0421 after driving for 20 miles after cleaning the catalytic no codes for p0421 and p0431 but now I got p0171 bank one fuel trims are 12.5 on short term and -12. on long term could be exhaust leak between the two o2 sensor I appreciate the help thanks.
Break My Wallet!!
I like to refer to them as B M Trouble U or BMUU (BM double U's). LOL
FYI BMW refer to it as a CCV system not a PVC system.
Would it be the exact same problem in an E46 325i for code 2883??
BMW and vacuum leaks?! That's unheard-of!!! I always thought they're designed to suck air thru multiple ports! LOL!
Thanks for the answer I was surprised when I saw one. Do not buy one BMW cheap on gasoline expensive on oil bad engineering. Or is it like the MOOG Chinese parts, price is not getting higher but quality does get worse they hiding inflation.
Forgot to mention great videos a viewer from Sweden
Have you had a BMW with high oil consumption complain, I own one and changed the PCV hoses because they get clogged in cold weather. But no change in consumption smells burned oil in hill climbing or trailer behind so my take on that is piston ring.
Valve seals could also be a problem but I notice no oil at idle (no smoke) or smell.
Just curious if you run in to this problem and had a fix.
hm… simple fix…. nice
Thanks for this video. Is the rubber pipe connected to the vacuum assist power brakes the best one to remove and put smoke into? Or does smoke specifically have to put into the PCV system?
No problem hope it helps. Wish I did a little more in depth on it. Subscribe to get all the current videos!
thank you
