My uncle got a new Ford truck in 1980 took it back to the dealership said NO POWER was SO GLAD he didn't get rid of his 1976 straight 6/3 on the tree had 300k on it only put a water pump on it…
I had a 1970 Ford F100 w the in-line 6, but was 260 ci. I bought it w the engine apart and in the bed. I rebuilt it and had it purring like a kitten. The only problem was I lived in Phoenix and about every 100 miles of continuous driving it would vapor lock. All the tank vents appeared to work. The only thing that would resolve the issue was to unscrew the canister attaché to the fuel pump. It would fire right back up and go another 100 miles. This was in the early 90’s. I still think it was the vent hoses, but it didn’t fix it. Anyone have any ideas?
I bought a 1980 ford f150 4×4 new . Was a carnal brown color had bed rails cloth seat , carpet , ranger pkg , no radio , cost -$ 8,650.00 in 1980 . This blue truck is very nice . I would use it . If he don’t , he’s only saving it for somebody else to have some day . I sold mine after having it only 2 yrs . Times were tough back then .
I had a 1978 Silverado. This old trucks, could be fixed on the same place, you got stranded. I carried wire, extra fuel pump.Duct tape, water, in my tool box, plus few tools, like vise grips.tire jack and cross bar.
Isn't it just sad that they've all lost their integrity ? I had a 68 3/4 ton with a 360/automatic in it, and it was very dependable , 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸 Now they have nothing comparable.
I have a 1980 f-150 with the in-line 6 that has about 128,??? miles but it has the crappy mustang tranny of a 3 speed w/overdrive. Been sitting for about 15 years after my barn fell on it after a 30 in snowfall one night. But it still starts
Truck would NOT DIE

"F150 First cold start since leaving production line."
Lol that truck is unobtanium.
That is so nice
Love it Ray you are the man Raymond Ray.
153624 the firing order burned into my skull from all the ones I worked on, those things were just tuff as nails
You should’ve held the gas to the floor when it started to see if it threw a rod or suck the valve in the cylinder and cause major damage

Propylene glycol is different than the green antifreeze.
You can't beat old school mechanical engines vs new school technology ones!💪🏻
I had a 1989 f150 with a 4 speed manual. Engine and transmission were excellent. The rest was absolute garbage.
no drought about it
A Ford that starts? Sacrilege!
From the Steve Mitchell book – How To Speak Southern: "FAR IT UP, SUH!"
it for sale?
Where the hell was that thing hiding?
Push that peddle to the floor and hold it then let it up slowly, 300's will always start

I have the same truck, but in tan. It’s not nearly as clean, though!
😁😁
Nice truck!
Miss my I6 and a 4spd!
As a diehard Chevy guy, hats off to those old Ford 300s. Absolutely bulletproof.

That moment when even an atheist is praying, hoping for ignition
One of my top most favorite motors❤
you can't kill a 300 straight 6. best engine ford ever made
Always loved the 300 straight 6. It is like a tractor engine.
These engines are hard to kill. Miss owning one.
