In this video I bring you along as I finish a diagnosis and repair on this 2005 Ford Focus. I replace a PCM that I diagnosed earlier this summer with a used one and I show how you can relearn the PATS keys using the Autel MS908 to fix codes U1900 and P1601. We also have a look at what is going on with the SRS light.

different seat maybe, maybe from different trim of car And yes I type this before finishing watching you video
Good job man
Congrats you've maded Sach a Great video so Helpful. Thanks
What on earth is a pretensioner
What do you think possibly when going into PATS to reprogram keys would make Autel Maxidas give a fault issue and have red bar across rather than going through the ten minutes with a climbing blue bar?
Fords Pat Systems Are So Annoying But they do work Very well Reprogramming can be a pain For Ford Security Modules Eric O especially Around the Late 90s to early 2000 model years even the modern 2015 plus can be a pain.. @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
With your Autel, were you using the J2534 ?
FYI- love your videos and thank you.
Have you done a 2004 f150 with the same issue?
For folks reading the comments, I programmed PATS on a 2013 Mustang GT with an Autel MP808. Worked like a charm!
Bro i hate any electrical stuff but this man makes me actually want to learn it seems so interesting knowing there is always a way out i thought this type of stuff was a headache !
$20 for the new key!!! The FORD dealership in Palm Coast Fl. charged me $300 for a new key and programing!
I don't want to be the guy who reversed the batteryπ°
So many mysteryβs salved you will need a OZ of Scooby snacks.
Man i remember my father used to have a chrysler sebring that Every time you did a turn it would do this weird pull or chug on the transmission. He took it to 5 mechanics and no one knew what to do. Makes you wonder sometimes
Another great video. I understand the chase for the pretensioner on Fords. I chased a simular issue to find out again the pretensioner was inside the b pillar. Great satisfaction when found but it did take a service manual check to verify the issue. Scan tools definately help with diagnosis ( more like required) to really get a good picture of faults. I love the real time data features. Very informative but it does take some time to figure out where everything is and how to use them well. Thanks again, I really do appreciate your videos.
I was following your troubleshooting until about half way through when my eyes rolled back into my head! I was wondering… Didn't you replace therestraint control module also, with a used one? If so, how did you get it to work with no fault codes without programming the used RCM to this car? Or did I miss something? In any case, thanks for another great video.
2008 Ford focus no crank no start and the car will start n other times it will show security lift n do nothing no blank screen on OD but other lights are indeed on with a blocking security lock car light. I have did the 10 min reset and it goes off untill you try to start it again. I am used to messing with GM stuff so I am at a loss any ideas

Been out of repair for over 10 years,Hate it come to this peeps just keep buying new products instead of taking car of their car and trucks
Never knew programming new keys was so easy and fast.
Got a 2007 mustang with dash cluster not working. Engine does start and drive but nothing inside the car but the radio. Evern the computer hookup won't work. No com. Replacesed the PCM with a used one and all lights and cluster work inside the car but car won't start. Vin needs to be changed on the replacement PCM? Is there a way to do this out of the car?
Great video ππ»
I owned one of these, but a 2004 w/ a Ford Zetec (Mazda) engine with automatic trans and it was a rocket-ship. Through the years it ate drive line bushings… I don't beleive the drive line structure was designed for the torque of this specific perfomance engine. The engine took root in the high-end Focus cars/wagons after serious valve retainer issues came-up on the 2002 Ford 2.3?, this engine was replaced in production w/Mazda 2.1 16V (Ford Zetec). This Zetec Engine had a red-line of about 7800 RPM. Never once beaten by any car road or highway.. just unlimited power. Only problem with the Zetec other than it's supreme torque was the plastic rocker-cover when synthetic oil was used — it leaked like hell!
I'm curious why he didn't notice the issue when the cables wouldn't just go on due to the intentional difference of post size. If was a GM I could understand but a top post? lol
HELP!!!!! NO CRANK….2014 Ford Escape SE w/ 1.6 Eco-boost
The car was in a front in collision, and the ECM ( and wiring pigtails) were damaged. So I spliced in (soldered) replacement pigtails that I bought at junkyard. Also plugged in the replacement ECM from junkyard. But now the car won't crank/start.
Please point me in the right direction of how to troubleshoot the issue?
Good job, impressive!
YEAH YEAH your the man just swipped wave at the camera and we all tune in lol
Keys are old used one or new keys?
Just unsolder the processor out of the old pcm , problem solved ππ
Great video keep it up
You are good. Love the video, but, what did it cost him?
What does a Autel cost
Cant you download the Ford software and pay for a single day license if you dont have a fancy scan tool? Of course you will need a usb to obd 2 converter but thatβs how Iβve programmed new Ecmβs in the past including keys and vin.
Great work, man. What I like about your work is that you not only try to fix things right, but you also make note of things that are not right along the way . Very cool…
u cant program the pcm with your bosh ????
Haha…I diagnosed and did a pcm swap on one of these once that was struck by lightning. Sizzled the pcm…there was a clear lightning strike burn mark just above ds window. Iirc they were in it when it happened and it left them stranded.
With the AUTEL MAXISYS SCAN TOOL, and the j2534, Can you program the pcm or ecm module with just those 2 devices? OR DO YOU NEED TO USE A LAPTOP AND SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES. IF YOU CAN, PLEASE DO A VIDEO BECAUSE I AM NEW TO AUTEL SCAN TOOLS, IAM VERY INTERESTED IN PROGRAMMING MODULES, DOING MORE WITH THE AUTEL MAXISYS ELITE. THANK YOU
hi i need help and fast i have a smart car forfour and nno key i have watched your vid on transponder key by pass w

I am having a similar issue as this video. I have a 2002 ford lightning I had a aftermarket stereo installed at what was supposed to be a good shop. long story short when they where installing my new head unit they removed the cluster to gain more access to run wires modify dash etc… when there tried to unplug the cluster it was stuck 18 year old vehicle go figure. continued to yank on the wires broke the plug portion of the cluster. cluster was junk they purchased a used cluster installed it told me my truck was done stereo looks and sounds great but hey for some reason my truck won't start. security blinking on dash no crank no start etc. buddy has a snap on scanner tells me a pats issue is present does the relearning and gets truck started I jump in the truck look at my dash it says my truck has 192k miles!!!!!!!!! wtf. make a call to stereo shop ask what is going on owner gets on phone tells me about issue and says he bought a junk yard cluster!!! call dealer they say they can't help me almost make me feel like im trying to get something over on them. what are my options this is a show truck had 68k miles truck is worth a lot of money I need some help
can I ask a question please if the pcm is changed does the mileage on the instrument cluster display the junkyard pcm recorded mileage not the original
Good trouble shooting. Cars now days are as complicated as the TVs I used to trouble shoot.
New zip ties and 2 new keys
Well at least they circled the main problem
HP Tuners has the ability to change VIN , but I have never done it, so I can't coach you through it. You can also disable security
I have a 2016 Ford Fusion Titanium 2.0 Ecoboost… I was driving one day and the Transmission just jerked hard and the RPMs went up so high that I just put the car into neutral and back in drive, then the WRENCH light came on, also note that the Sport mode was also disabled and no paddle shifting. This all happened when I accelerated not hard but moderately to get going to a highway at 55 MPH. So the Symptoms are still there in my car at this time. But when I start the car and put it into Sport Mode and shift just using the Paddle Shift manually, the car has No Faults and NO WRENCH LIGHTS. This is Weird though. Shifts fine with Paddle but in normal Drive there is a problem and the WRENCH LIGHT come on and Reduced Power or at times there is no Acceleration or delayed acceleration. Just started today as of this posting.
