Come along with Eric O. from SMA as he takes a trip to Krown Rust Proofing in Stanley, NY to have his Toyota Tundra sprayed before it rots away. In this video we talk with Jeff (owner) and Gary and learn a little bit about what Krown is and how it can help preserve our vehicles and stop the nasty little thing we call RUST!!

Do you undercoat vehicles that have a waxy coating from the manufacturer such as GM ?

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars None ya Bidness says:

Used automatic transmission fluid will do a similar job , could use new , but using old is cheap an recycling an won't destroy your bushings , I just wouldn't use burnt transmission fluid that smells .

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tinkermouse - Scott Russell says:

Just wondering; with the new cars now is it really necessary to drill holes in the body. Manufacturers now leave access ports in their bodies.

Play safe from Elliot Lake, Ontario, Canada.

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars OWL says:

I like to just clean up rust. Spray on WD40. Then after a few hours paint on 0W oil with a brush. I only put oil on metal surfaces. Paint, plastic and rubber are avoided at all cost.

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Selaphiel says:

do i need to rust proof my car when i bought it new? or should i just wait next winter?

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Sawyer says:

Yt suggested this. Three years have gone by Mr.O. Maybe an update is due?

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scott Strong says:

35 years in the autobody bis..its a scam

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars (ElderRider) says:

Krown is a great product Had it in Minnesota for several years now

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars geosutube says:

Damn. Talk, talk, talk, talk. I was hoping to see the process applied. Well, hell. Look for another video. Shit.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars GlassVial says:

Anyone with the "competitor's product" falling off means one of 2 things, either it was poorly applied by unskilled workers, or people aren't doing their due diligence and going back for their annual re-applications (just like Krown has annual applications too, according to this video).

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Edgar Schaack says:

I’ve had my 97 chev 4×4 krowned since new and have no rust

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scott Pomygalski says:

Broke down and had my Tundra Krowned. I went to a shop in Salem NY. They did an good job from what I can see. Very happy with their customer service, forgot my coffee mug there (they knew I was from pretty far away in NJ) and they even mailed it back. Funny- I then got my oil change at Toyota and the Toyota oil change and the service manager wanted to show "all the oil under my truck". HaHa ($probably thought he was going to get to go home early on that one$) Nope I had it Krowned.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Punky Dbos says:

if krown gets on the paint of the car can it cause any damage?

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scott Pomygalski says:

Wait what, the fender will come off easily because it is oiled…. Huuuh

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scott Pomygalski says:

I wonder if Krown is just WD40

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scott Pomygalski says:

What do you do after the Krown in applied. Can you go to the carwash or will it be washed away?

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars zeke says:

just got home from sault ste. marie and had my car done, Thanks Eric!

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Romeo Wilson says:

If I already have some rust is this even worth it ?

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Justin Yeo says:

What about your favourite fluid film

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hola! John Rodrigues says:

Eric that is got to be one of the most disreputable looking Jeep hats I've ever seen!

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mario Follower of Jesus says:

    Legitimate questions Eric

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bob Johnson says:

The owner is very soft spoken and you blast thru the microphone.
I have to turn up the volume to hear the owner and then turn it down to hear you.
Very good video, a must see in my opinion.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars D Gordon says:

Another vote to Krown's product and service. You do it, and you don't worry about rust. Highly recommended and great to see SMA do this interview. 🙂

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars CORVAIRWILD says:

Krown is garbage. nice infomercial, too bad their product is garbage. I use fluid film, I've tried everything, fluid film for me. I'm going to make a video today and show you what fluid film has done to protect my California vehicles after 10 salty winters. And it takes me several hours to do a full size vehicle, granted I don't have a hoist, but 40 minutes? Even if they were using fluid film, it's the same time to spray any product. it's just that they don't spray it everywhere it needs to be sprayed. And I'll show my vehicles, you be the judge

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars kelly marwood says:

i live in Canada the GREAT WHITE NORTH lol and i get Krown Rust Proofing every year it really does work BUT if you don't get it rust proofed before the date it was done they won't warranty it from rusting

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars STEVE says:

Killer video…..I like to hose off the salt after a good snow but apparently it doesn’t matter. I wonder if there is a salt release equivalent that can be had. Citrus degreaser?

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars spoke1183 says:

Not sure why waste money on expensive shit. Use degreaser clean out oils and what not under your car. Rinse and dry it. Use primer, reg paint and apply clear coat. Never gonna see rust ever. And if you're replacing your own parts like control arms and such components u can always paint and coat them too before u put them on.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jens Davidsen says:

Blows my mind that there is not a SINGLE Krown facility in all of Chicagoland – I made an appointment for tomorrow morning at my nearest Krown facility…Ft. Wayne, Indiana – 240miles one way. Chicago is one of the capitols of the Rust Belt.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Cultus Mechanicus says:

So Krown is more or less Fluid Film …….

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Commissar0617 says:

hrm… would like krown, but nobody does it anywhere near Minnesota. too bad. guess i'll just have to fluid film after por-15 on our new rollback

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars aBMWEnthusiast says:

I'm from Denver but have also lived in Alaska. I wonder if Crown has found their way to either of those locations.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tyler Andersen says:

Tossing in a handy tip – After the Krown spray, go for a short drive at higher speeds. The moving air around your vehicle will move some of the extra Krown along the flow paths of where moisture from a wet day would go anyway. The vehicle will still drip dry for a day or two but some of that otherwise wasted Krown will be pushed and blown into places the water and salt would as well.

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jon Theman says:

Got my pontiac vibe krowned .live in Canada and salt on the roads during winter and salt eats vehicles.
    Glad I got er dun!

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Karnage543 says:

Why choose krown over fluid film? I'm going to buy a new truck soon and want to get it undercoated right away. I don't want to deal with the nightmare of rust anymore.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars barry bishop says:

Great Q&A session, very informative. I live in Newfoundland Canada where the climate is brutal on vehicles. Ice control in winter and salt spray from the Atlantic take their toll on anything made of steel, even Superman would rust in these parts. I will be buying a new truck very soon and will definitely be going with the Krown product. The 2005 Truck I am presently driving was not rust protected, and I have payed the price for that over the years with rotted lines and a host of other corrosion related issues. The latest issue was a rotted out rear differential cover, which I can no longer find a replacement part for and ended up doing a repair. The first stop when I drive off the lot with the new truck will be Krown.

Mr. O! Great interview skills! You could be a broadcaster! Interesting video. Thanks.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars fat catt 39 says:

Is it good to get a new car under coated?

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars JohnsRadios says:

Cars are better then before as far as rust goes . The salt though is a killer and upstate NY gets a lot of snow , really hard on vehicles .

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steve C says:

Been using this stuff since it came out in the 1980's. My 1986 Caravan went to the scrap yard 22 years later with 460,000km and 0 rust!

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Better Days says:

I've had my car rust proofed by Krown for years andnI paid $130 CDN each visit. I felt like a good car owner until multiple mechanics told me my car is rusted to hell and to get rid of it. Never going to Krown again!

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars bowtech411 says:

    It's pretty much WD-40

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars JOGO says:

Fantastic I sure will be visiting. Is it expensive ?

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Thomas Bartlett says:

Another data point here. I've been rustproofing my vehicles for over 25 years in northern Vermont. My experience with oil rustproofing has been excellent. Vehicles mostly rust from the inside out, especially during the warmer months of spring and summer or heated garage. If the technician applies the oil correctly, the life of your car will be greatly extended. Remember (Moisture + Salt + Heat) = ACCELERATE RUST). Like the man said, oil will lift moisture off metal and slow down the corrosion process. I touch up my vehicles each time I change tires from fall to winter or winter to spring.

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars motorhead says:

U S Army used cosmoline still available in spray cans. Anyone with a plow truck and salt spreader is nuts if they dont do this twice a year. I do it in fall and spring. Frames rot out lines body cab mounts etc. Use a fruit pump sprayer from home depot and mix gesr oil with kerosene . Krown doesnt was off and is the best not a tar which gets hard and cracks trapping salt causing more rust. Krown smells like cosmoline.

Guys in Buffalo had it done in Canada all the time.

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars motorhead says:

Tell them to come to Long Island and NJ CT.
    Mobile trailer unit

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars motorhead says:

Weird only upstate NY knows about Krown.
I did under my crane and dumptruck. Best thing to do.

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Andrew Evanoff says:

One of the best things you can do for rust protection is to add large mud flaps to both front and rear wheels. Many new vehicles don't even have any factory installed mud flaps. I would do this first.
Also, spraying any products on the outside is not enough. You need to get it inside the body panels. It's very important to check and clean factory moisture drain holes on the bottom of all body panels. Make sure they are not plugged with mud or any leftover corrosion protection products.
