Customer Customer States Mechanic Fails Engine Transmission Gas Diesel off road race 4x4 street car daily driver scam dealership dealer technician how to
Hello Everybody Ladies and gentlemen boys and girls viewers of all ages. Good day to you! Welcome back! Glad you guys are here. We are returning to the Part Two episode of this 2000 Chevrolet Silverado With 5.3 straight out of Canadia it has no ignition key caught trying again. Take two.
This vehicle has approximately 288,000 ometer. That's right, it is a Metric system Silvero because it's straight out of Canad E. So anyway, back on the Part One episode, We did a few inspections on it. We replaced a Uh customer provided steering shaft that's the upper lower shaft and we also the bearing inside.
We also diagnosed and made a couple repairs on this vehicle's AC system. Uh, if you recall from the first video, this vehicle was making this loud screeching noise while driving and what we were hearing was the AC belt slipping. Uh, what was happening is the compressor was trying to engage and as the load came in on the Belt, the belt wasn't tight enough because of the tensioner failure and it allowed it to slip And then that made the noise and consequently the system did not perform. We ended up replacing the tensioner.
the AC belt no longer slipped. However, we had noticed that AC system performance was still very poor. After discovering that additional repairs could have been needed, we ended up recovering the AC system and found that it was low at that point. I Replaced both service valves, recharged the system, and found that it did come back to life it was performing.
It wasn't the best that it could have been, but it was better than not working at all. Uh, what we found is that the highside pressure on this AC compressor was a little bit low. It was uh in the sub 200 PSI Zone and we were looking for like 230 to 250 PSI on the high side. so the compressor is underperforming slightly.
Um, perhaps we can address that later on. Uh, not in this video. Uh, what we are going to do next is proceed to try to calm down this vehicle's misfire. One of the other customer complaints was the truck has an intermittent and random misfire.
I found a P0300 DTC inside of the vehicle's ECM which indicated that random SL multiple misfires were detected. What we're going to do next is we're going to pop these spark plug wires off of here. We're going to dig those spark plugs out of both Banks of this engine and we're going to inspect them and probably replace them with some new ones because the customer has provided me with some AC Delco replacement spark plugs for this 5.3 L So having said all that, let's go ahead and get to it. I'm going to glove up.
We're going to go in through the wheel well on the driver side first because I have the fender liner removed. We're going to pull out these four plugs, Then we're going to move over to the other side, yank those other four plugs out, and see what we have to work with. So stay tuned because this is going to be a very good video. Hings the hood look who that guy is.
Okay So we've got our new spark plugs here. These are: AC Delos: Let's get these guys unboxed and inspect them real quick and make sure they seem to fit the fit the bill the right ones. Customer Suppli: Parts You never know what you're going to get. Not too shabby looking. Part Number 41-962 AC Delos tapered face looks like they're platinums. These platinums? Yeah, yeah, they're Platinum All right, let's go ahead and get started. Uh, like I mentioned back in the first video, These Wires may or may not survive the ex extraction. so I do have some new ones on the way to complete this job.
Uh, but until they get here, let's go ahead and pull, peel these things off and then, uh, get these plugs out. All right? So we're coming in with some curvy, angular needle noose kind of specialty pliers and what I'm going to do with these guys is down at the business end these wires. I'm going to use these pliers to get a hold of that metal heat shield right there. See that metal and we're just going to get a hold of that and give these things a nice twist and watch this.
we're going to, we're going to. We're going to break that wire right off. See that when these things get, uh, they get stuck, they get stuck and you got about a 50% chance of breaking them off. So again routinely.
I will try to replace those wires every time a tuneup job is required here. Yeah, look at this. Carnage This one actually didn't break. you see I pulled the uh shielding back from The Wire So it's technically probably reusable, but like I said I Got a feeling we're going to break more of those now.
This metal shield here will have to be reused. The new sets of wires will not come uh with uh with replacement. Shields So I do have to keep these and reuse those. these and those I said these and those in the same sentence.
Is that grammatically accurate? or was that an A linguistic Abomination What do you guys think? These and those them. the whatever, the wires. That's what it is. the and the there we go.
there's that one another I don't think I broke that one off. Either either or either which one do we say? Do we say either? or either this go on all day. Tomato, tomato, potato topato. Uh, that was a new one.
What else we have in there? We've got syrup and syrup. Hey Lauren come here darling. I Got a question for you? She doesn't even know what we're doing back here a this one. This one's fun because if we take a look right here, we have a cool temp sensor.
Hey I have a question for you. Is it syrup or syrup syrup? It's stand by my you you, it's syrup. It was at this moment that he knew he up. I it's totally startup.
Well anyway, as I was saying and uh, you can actually slip up and break that sensor off right there. So using pliers on that particular spark plug wire uh can be kind of risky. but we're going to come in here through Fender Well and we're going to apply some leverage to this. We're using leverage. see how we got that angle? that curve? There we go. We're just going to pop that off against the manifold if I I can get a hold of it There we go watch this. I'm going to pull all these wires out of this truck and not break a single one of them. That's how this is going to land.
Okay, so we got the back one that's cylinder. think that's our eight, the Ultra back in through the fender liner. well thing right here. I'm actually really glad I pulled these wheel wells out.
This is making this job a whole lot easier. I'm going to do it this way from now on. I used to just kind of suffer through it and climb up over top and just kind of reach in because it's all here. but it's so much easier going in through here.
All righty coming in back through the wheel. well I'm going to do something kind of cringy. We're going to pull this uh spark plug out of here I'm just going to hit with a little impact. It's not going to hurt anything normally I wouldn't do this cuz you can break stuff but we are.
We have such a straight shot going on right here with uh with these plugs that I I think I can get away with it. The owner said this was the original set of spark plugs in this compare with our new ones. part numbers are the same. We can see this plug here has some wear on the electrode and this one does not.
That's interesting. Let's Gap these out real quick and see where they where they come out. So this one our new one that's gapped right at 40 3,000 of an inch and this old one here. this one's gapping up at.
oh look at that 60 6,000 of an inch so definitely have some wear to them. Okay, let's go ahead, pull the rest of them out and see what we got to work with. Impact Gun Spark Plug Job Evil Technic Hey no problem. That one came right out like butter.
Also looking to be in a similar situation here. I've got quite a lot of gap on this plug right here. Okay Luna what are you doing Girl dog. She's pacing if she wants some attentions.
or maybe the Impact gun is disagreeable to her. She was laying right over there next to the rack. Okay, this one here. look at that.
Gap that is a lot of gap on this. PL I bet that's in the 70 to 80,000 Mark Wow. Excessively wide gaps and last one on this side. pull that guy right on out and over to the bench for examination.
Another huge gap. Check these out real quick. we're looking at dang. look at that 77 on that one that's up there.
Look at this one. 78,000 Yeah, that's the 66 and 74 thou on this one. Yeah, these things are junk. Super worn out.
so let's go ahead. we'll unpack four of the new ones. 1 2 3. Missing one new one? No.
oh, it's in the big box found here. Okay, let's get these guys set up over to the truck and reinstall. all right? So I'm trying real hard to get as much progress finished on this job as it is. Uh, some of the fellas from A-rod's live stream at Power Stroke Tech Talk are coming in today. Uh Aaron is going to be here Bearded Fortech is driving in from North Carolina he's going to be here this week and uh I think he brought Viking mechanic with him another one of our regulars on Aaron's live stream on Wednesdays So it's going to start to get a little loud around here, so I'd like to get as much of a as much progress done on this truck as it is or as much progress done on this truck as possible before the distractions come in because I'm going to have plenty of them the three plugs. and by the way, I'm not going to run these in with an impact. that's that's unall for. we're not going to do that.
I can take him out with an impact. that's fine. Maybe trigger control? Um, a first time spark plugger doer yourself. I Would not recommend using impact guns on spark plugs, but I don't know.
Do as I say now as I do. How about that? H kidding I'm kidding. I'm kidding. Don't listen to me.
It's for entertainment purposes only. Yeah, nobody ever said this was a howto channel. This is a nonsensical rambling type of. Channel click little bit of torque action and there it goes.
Aha yes, it hit the ground. Got it? There it is and it rolled right towards me too. This is good. All right.
Next plug. let's get this tightened down. I Have my wires here. They've arrived.
It came in while we were, uh, jaw jacking about nonsense and whatnots. That one's a little bit more kicks that was tight. see I'm just using this tool to run those threads down and then when it's final torque time, it's getting applied manually. There we go.
Four plugs installed and tight. All right, let's get these wires unboxed. These are denzo wires. The correct ones.
Okay, so what we're going to do here with these units: We're going to take our uh, our old heat shields and slide those over the spark plug boot side. Actually, let me back up. I'm ahead of myself so far ahead. I'm behind here.
New, We need to inject the electron containing lubricant into the Orus. We will grab two more, Give those guys a little squirt missed a hole on that one. There we go. Then we can get our Shields installed over the spark plug end of our wires and go pop these units back on to the plug.
dangly bits. Uh-oh the Calvary is here. What's up man? All right, the fellas are having Publ sandwiches right now. they're having lunch.
They all just got in. It's a long drive from North Carolina and a long drive from Uh from the Tampa Airport So while they're all chilling, I don't have to play host in the moment so we can get all these wires and whatnot reconnected and plugged back in. Yeah, this is so much EAS easier going through the fender. Well, this is great I may do this this way every time cuz I don't have to bend over and stress my back which is really cool I like not stressing my back here we go. All right, that's four wires plugged in. Let's go around to the top side here and get everybody hooked up to the coils. Yep, see, need the ladder for the stool? Or the step. The stool step ladder.
that thing. Oh words. Okay, let's get in here. Oh nice and comfortable.
like I'm laying down on top of uh, the core support for the radiator. Let's get everybody plugged in. See right here. look at that, see how that's real close to the steering gear.
You can adjust the angle on these things a little bit. If you need to change how the wire uh is routed to gain clearance for obstructions, that one's still that one's okay right there. but sometimes they like to flop right down. You just angle that this way it'll take up some of the slack and then you don't have that problem There we go.
Got that one on. Okay, halfway complete. Let's go around to the passenger side and repeat procedure. Actually, you know what? I think I've got a cool idea I'm going to do this side from the top and I'm going to do and I did that other side from the bottom and then when it's all said and done with, you guys can comment on which side side looked like it was the hardest and then at the end of it all I can grant testimony on no come here on which side I thought was the hardest That way you get a you get the video perspective point of view and the technician point of you on which method works out best.
That actually that might be kind of cool. Let's try that. That'll be a fun little experiment. That's one wire wasn't too bad.
Uh. One thing I'm noticing employing this method is my angles of attack here are somewhat limited. Additionally the Pliers are actually kind of long and I'm running into interference with the Uh fender. Well actually so let's see there we go, that one's off and I still didn't break it Here we go.
Let's get the Uh one up in the front here. Now I'm actually at a slight disadvantage on on the passenger side of this engine as opposed to the driver side. And that's because of the design nature of this engine itself. See, these cylinder heads on this unit are uh, you guys can even see what I was doing.
These cylinder heads on this unit are uh, both the same part number and these spark plugs are at an angle. see that angle right there. So when the cylinder head part is on this side, those plugs are angled back towards the rear of the car. When that head is flipped around and on that side, the plugs are pointed towards the front.
Now, that's usually not a big deal except for when we come to this rear most Uh spark plug right here, we don't have a lot of space and Aaron's creeping up over the fender. Well, you done You done with your your Publix over there? I Have to tell you Publix's Subs are the best and oh my isn't it? Oh my. God It's all designed to lure you down to Florida permanently. Anyway, as I was saying, um, that's actually kind of a it's a small area down there and getting your hands and flanges and tools into that section can be a little difficult. so that is why I Feel that I'm actually at a disadvantage on this side, but we'll see that works out anyway. That's four wires removed now. I just got to bust out those four plugs and uh, we'll get them Gap checked and then we'll install the new ones. Yeah, I'm I'm going to do it again.
It's for, uh, scientific testing purposes I need to make sure that uh, all my test Protocols are uh, they're matching each other I Need an extension? I Know we'll use a universal swivel as an extension. That way I can get a articulation out of the tool and and I get more clearance. There we go. but now my end is extra wobbly too so it's going to be harder to drive plug remove plug on the floor.
That's fine, we don't need that anymore anyway. uh-oh I have de bris? Oh, look at that. See, this is why you don't use impacts. I Broke the plug in my socket H Horseland This is the cryptonite of glass.
Like if you throw that onto some glass, it will break the glass destroyed. Got it? Yep, the addition of that Universal is exactly what caused that spark plug to break 1,000% So anyway, let's break another one. see what happens. Unclick AG Yeah, that wobble that is introduced is what can do it.
Look at the gap on that thing. Wow. SS Good Now that one in the back. We were discussing the difficult to reach an excess plug.
that one I've got to do by hand. There's no getting any kind of tool in there whatsoever. All right, that one's out. Get another giant.
Gap Yeah. I Would not be surprised to learn that these were the culprit for those misfires. And I can also say that I need more tools to uh to handle this side here. What do we need? An 18 and a low profile ratchet? That's what I'm looking for.
This is my super low profile set. The reason I'm getting another socket out is I can take this and stick it. Oh, this going to take a night I can put a socket over the socket and then have compound sockets but that's not the one I want The 19 is the one I want and I grabbed the 17 a it's totally a Monday Monday misfires. Here we go.
The Monday misfires. That's what we're going to call it. That's catchy I can get down with that. So anyway, 19 mm over that spark plug socket and the ratchet is going to engage the 19.
So I've got a low profile solution for a low profile uh, absence of space here. So I've got a low profile solution for low profile situation. so we're reaching back. There we go.
Okay, I've got the plug on or the socket on the plug. Rather, you can see it's protruding ever so slightly right here. This is why I use a socket on a socket cuz now I don't have to rig up any kind of, uh, swivels or extensions things of that nature. Oh, that one fell out. didn't mean to do that either. Yeah, see how this ratchet barely reaches that? Now that's the purpose of that little socket. just to give me that extra half inch since it fell down. We're just going to suffer through this one.
There we go, you know I think I Kind of locked out on this truck too because there's actually a lot of space here. Some of them, you get about half as much space. So I'm I'm actually a little fortunate, which may be skewing my testing results for how well this is or how easy this is supposed to be. but I guess I'm taking the straight line approach to it rather than the uh, calculated and cmn Method I Smell coffee? Are you guys making coffee? Somebody has coffee? Well, Aaron did just get off a plane from Dtoa.
There we go, All right. that's the last one that was easy. Look at the gap on that thing. Dang, what's up, darling.
I nothing did I smell coffee in there? uh oh, do you like some I I think I smell it? Sure I mean I don't I don't want any I don't think you want no, not really. but I smell it. It's kind of making me want some, but it's not the time of day to be taking back coffee I thought you wanted some that like hint, hint, hint, hint, no, no I don't speak that way I speak directly and I mean what? I say and I say what I mean yeah, that's true I don't be around the bush with like hey, if you were making some coffee, maybe if you had some extra, you could drop it off over here. Yeah I don't that's not me.
You know that I could do it if you want? no no no I'm fine. I'm fine. I'm fine. Don't worry guys, we're just about to get I don't feel like making any.
oh good thank you I don't want to burden you with coffee at 2: in the afternoon? That's uh, that's silliness. All right. So we're going to do the hard part first at the the difficult one since I can't see it I can barely feel it. Don't know what's going on in that hole back there in the back.
We're just going to start this by hand. There we go. A couple threads have started, but that's not enough. All right.
spark and plug socket coming in again. we're still doing this the uh, the manual way. I Could probably sneak an electric ratchet in there to finish these threads off, but then I've got to climb down off of my chair or stool or shelf or whatever. go all the way over there that socket, go over there, grab the ratchet, reset it, back up.
It's just going to take too much time. and I'm lazy today cuz it's it's lazy or it's a Monday that's what it is. It's not a lazy Monday it's it's fun. Monday for Monday that's what we're going to call it for Monday switch that ratchet around.
we're still trying to loosen. there. There we go now. we got the train rolling see how we were off to a slow start.
but I think we we can, we can catch up. You guys time me, tell me if it took uh, more time to do this side or less time to do this side. Oh, and the fender well method on this side would not have been as beneficial cuz I still wouldn't have had any access to the difficult plug. So perhaps the most efficient way to do this could potentially be just pulling off the the one fender liner and not necessarily both. Who knows. Anyways, let's get the next plug in. We are loaded into the socket and I'm just kind of using the socket here to get these started. It gives me more meat to manipulate that didn't sound right.
It gives me more surface area to contact the plug, which in turn provides more leverage to to the threads on the plug. Helps me install that easier. Yeah, but we're definitely not grabbing extra meat. No, that was that was the wrong way to put that.
I'm embarrassed, but since this is recorded in front of a live studio audience, there's no going back. Okay, that's three of those guys in the three started anyway. Now I'm going to do what I didn't want to do. Hop down and grab my Electric Tools slide that down in through that little hole there and I'm just going to run down the threads slowly.
It's a time saving measure. Swap it out to the next one. Coming back in there we go slowly again and one more back in there Uno Moss and that one H that one I at the complete wrong set of angles here to really get a good bite on that one. I Know, swap out some wobbly bits here and now we can change our angle of attack.
Must use caution. Do not break spark plug with swivel socket. There we go. Okay, so now take our ratchet here.
go in and just apply some final torque to these guys. Kicks second one right there tight and get in there numeral TR There we go. Beautiful. All right.
let's go prep the wires and get everybody plugged back in. Come with me wires right back at the bench. Let's go ahead and strip these insulators out. Got four.
Got the loop Lube Gravity got the lube. Let's give these guys a couple squirts good and chew on the other one there. Need to wipe my shoo off the one. Look at that.
it's too much. Way too much. Lube Oh no. the one that fell I found it way back there.
Look at that. It's like, oh, it's so gross there. Got it? We're in spider territory back there. Okay, so that's all four heat shield insulators on all four spark plug wires.
Let's get these guys sna back into position. Hardest one. First, That's my least favorite of the plugs. There we go.
That one's on. Let's snap it onto the coil and we need to check the wire, especially in this corner to make sure there are no clearance issues. If this wire touches anything and it rubs on it, it'll rub through, cause a misfire and that would be bad. There's the next one.
Snap that guy on. Same thing. it's got to come up through that bracket. There's a bracket here for the, uh, oil dipstick and we want to make sure that wire clear everything on and around that bracket. One right here, plug you in and last one coming into position. Click. Plug you in right there. All right.
Good to go. That is one successful tuneup. Okay, so here's my opinion on the matter: I Think that it really doesn't actually matter if we pull these Fender Wells out to perform these spark plug jobs on this truck or not. Um, it was slightly easier to navigate the driver's side.
uh, due to some of these obstructions and since I was able to go in through the fender fender, well, that was a little bit easier. Um, had I done the reach over method from the top side, my arm would have been caked in some of this Canadian contamination right here. Uh, which would have been a less pleasurable experience for me. So the way I did it on that side, it was a cleaner job I think that the effort and the amount of time uh remained relatively well the same.
Uh, especially this uh, this rear spark plug back over here. so that's my opinion. I Don't think it really matters wheel well or no wheel. Well, uh, that may that that may change uh depending on the vehicle's configuration.
but in this particular instance I think that it did not matter whether or not I took the wheel wells out or left wheel wells. In all righty, let's hop inside here and get the key. Um I'm not going to test drive this car yet. like I said, this is the uh, this is the part Two video on this trucks and it looks like it's going to be a series restocking us the engine.
So nice. So because of that, uh I'm not going to throw the wheels on just yet because I do have more work that's going to happen on this truck. I'm not certain which order I want to go in just yet, but the test drive segment is going to have to wait. However, as we can see it's running smooth.
We have no instant shakes. We have no misfires. Let's check the dash real quick for a check engine light with a flash. that's a we got a negative on check engine light.
Yes, we do have that ABS indicator on I need to diagnose that and uh, we're probably going to end up putting the pump or the module in it. maybe both I don't know yet. Uh, we need to check it out and then go from there. but there will be a part three on this video.
At least there is more work to do in the future. So having said that I hope Hope you guys! Uh, tune in for the part three on this particular Silverado And as always, thank you for watching this part two all the way to the end. Uh, since you are here all the way to the end I'm going to go ahead and assume that you like this video. Uh, if my assumption is correct and you did like this video, please feel free to let me know about that by tapping that like button down below.
Do not forget to drop me a comment or two while you're down there. And most importantly, have yourselves a fantastic day! See you guys later in a video into Vortex 53 and tuneup and transmission in.
Sur-up. Either "E"-ther or "I"-ther.
I had no problem buying new AC Delco wires with new heat shields on them on Amazon. $78 a set.
Ever notice that every GM vehicle you work on that you turn on the ignition to get the mileage? HMM, I just push that button on the dash panel and the mileage illuminates regardless of your prefered selection to trip meter, fuel amount, etc.. That feature has been on GM's since the 90's and still on them in different locations depending on trim packages. If the dash has the button, push it with key, no key or fob. Did you check the firing order when replacing the wires??
Just thinking most shops refuse to install customer supplied parts, because of return issues. how might you handle this.
That looks my truck but mine has cats eyes

Double dare you, that Syrup and Serup with your wife was danger zone stuff, I bet your dinner was burned — go full send, Anti-Fa or An-Ti-Fa
is it ok to apply some anti-seize to the threads of a spark plug?
"Monday Misfires" is definitely the name of your next secret channel!
calvary or cavalry?
"Dees and does" is perfectly cromulent grammar if you're from the upper midwest.
After doing plugs on my LS1 Trans Am, I envy all that space to work.. Especially on the passenger side..lol
It's sssssurup.🤣👍
It's the generator! It's always the problem!
Another great video, thanks Ray.
That is why we watch (For the rambling).
Good morning Ray
See even a renowned diagnostician can pretend to be a mechanic for a simple plug and wire swap ha ha ha
I’ve noticed you don’t use fender covers.
When HEI ignition first came out in 1975 the plug gap was .65, which was a "shock" to those who prior were used to only .35 plug gap. Now with the individual coils and crank-trigger they're at .45. Interesting evolution of plugs and their gaps over the years.
Thanks for a good video. Your narrations make them very entertaining/interesting for me. Keep up the great work.
What is the red box on the cable going to the alternator? 😮
I believe by the time you take off fender liners you would plugs out unless the liners were already out. You ray and wife unit are the best
CANADIA!! really? From Canada
179175 miles
Extra work removing wheel well make the Job go easier with less Pain when you have a Lift.
Amazing how the Subscribers just keeps going up and fast.🎉
So is the 5.3l Vortec also known as a LS?
Missfire Monday on a T-shirt
Hi ray I was watching a video on youtube about a cool ratchet that is called 0 angle basically you can move it a little and it moves the bolt a lot, dunno what it costs but seems like a winner. cool vid first time watching in 4k.
dude-ehmouse ————— > call lauren in and dont ask her a question
have her come in just to tell her you love her
ill bet she likes that 😉
old fart out 😊🤗🤗🥰🥰😇😇
It would have been better if, when the angle plug heads were designed, they would have angled them the opposite direction so they angled toward the front on the passenger side where the AC box gets in the way.
im with wife unit, on that syrup pronunciation … but them im Canadian … like that truck your working on.
I would say the passenger side is harder with the wheel well still on the automobile 🚘 but it just depends on the automobile that you are working on
Try a piece of vacuum hose about 6 to 8" long to put on the end of plug to thread the plugs in, will be easier to , also works on bolts where it is hard to start them. Still have the snapon 3ft 3/8 ", and 1" extension I used in the tune up shop and dealer in the 70,s 80,s and the MAC long handled swivel ratchet, to go through the fender wells.MAC also made a hook shaped tool that worked great on the old HEI boots, it got behind the boots, and pulled off plugs, after you wiggled the metal part loose. Didnt know I had the beginning of RA back then and that 3ft extension was a REAL back saver, and the vacuum hose thing. Ever found any AC Delco plugs that never had the threads put on from the factory out of the box, LOL got 2 of them in junk box .
wheel well —-> would be my go to
it only takes less than 2 minutes to remove the thingamajigs
aaaand were in
I use a little anti-seize lubricant on the spark plug threads. And I check the gaps on the new plugs too.
Go through the wheel well…. its a straight shot…. the flip side is having to take the fender well out…. On ford vehicles a lot of wiring and crap is attached to the fender well….
Syrup… the wife unit is correct! I love you direct approach, the best communication method ever!
"A linguistic abomination"… I LIKE IT! 🤪 Pronouncing syrup "seer-up" is definitely one! IT'S "SIR-UP"!!
.060 gap is nuthin'! The last time I changed mine, the gap that was supposed to be .045, was .092… 😳
One other thing you might mention to people is that broken porcelain can be razor sharp!
I remember the Honda cars would drive in, the center electrode would be in the insulator, put new plugs is and car kept going
Coke sucker
We make Syrup in Canada and we take it seriously… It's SIR-UP NOT S-EAR-UP! That is all. 🤣🤣🤣
As a Texan of Wisconsin decent it’s syrup 😁
My dad has a chevy aveo and my mom has a toyota tundra, both needed plugs, as I discovered while driving them while my dodge was in the shop. my moms truck would misfire if you didnt crank long enough to start and had to crank twice (which I did often because it has an absurdly long crank to start) and my dads car had issues accelerating from a stop and at interstate speeds the RPM was erratic and made the car kinda buck. both vehicles were worn to around .07 thou and were speced to around .035 thou
As a former tech tire well is better
Nothing to comment on other than for the algorithm push . One more third of the job done , I guess . With the expectation of a third video . Waiting with baited breath for the third 👍
I believe 'this side' was harder than 'that side'…
Your time is your money, wheel well removed saves you time, makes you money.
Here's a trivia question for you, Ray…
What does the "AC" in "AC Delco" stand for?
Those are the initials of "Adolph Coors"', as in the brewery in Golden, Colorado. Way back when, Coors bottled his beer in ceramic bottles, owned and operated a plant to manufacture the bottles. They branched out to make other ceramic products, which included among other things the ceramic insulators for spark plugs.
BTW, I also have a ceramic Coors golf putter. It doesn't putt very well (at least, not for me), but was an interesting idea and is a somewhat rare
collectable. (See, I can use two tenses in the same sentence, too! 😝)
To inti seize or not to anti seize. That is the question.
Ray you never, ever, ever make the wife unit angry! What ever she's wearing is beautiful and when asked 'do I look fat' the answer is absolutely not! 🤗
I believe your grammar was correct.
It's not too much lube until it splashes on the ceiling.
As an English man from the home counties I speak what is called "Received English" (BBC english accent) Wife unit is right!
Removing the wells is the way to go in my opinion
Nice video Ray…. I think through the wheel well is easier.
That back plug always a pain in the butt nice job ray now you can go catch up with the guys
It’s always hard to drive when your end is wriggly
you should never second guess what the wife unit says cause if you do it will come back and haunt you later lol
It's syrup aka "seerup" Eh. From Toronto
Anything you can do to make a job easier pays off later on decreasing wear and tear on your body, remember your body is your most valuable resource !!
Manic Monday
I have to ask, is that Pandora in the background? Many of the songs also appear on the "Outlaw Country" channel on Pandora that I listen to.
It's a subtle way to get comments.
0n my 2001 ford explorer xls with 4.0, you have to remove the passenger side fender well to get at the plugs. The A/C lines make it impossible to access them from above.
Cheese whiz man, yank the fender liners every time!!
Am I to understand that these spark plugs are TWENTY-THREE YEARS OLD????
Ray I think you use more linguistics when you are bored. I would think as smart as you are you changed these spark plugs without really thinking (no real diagnostic procedure) The play on pronounciation on words like “garage” “caramel” is cool.Have a great day Ray
Those coils are awesome to have sent a spark over those gaps for a long time!
I can't help but laugh every day when A-Rod says "HAHOOO! LOOK WHO THAT GUY IS!"
As said before….gap was .060 from the factory….those old carbon center wires could not keep up with the load anymore leading to misfires…..were new wires metallic core ?
Shifty imwith you. I've seen the firewood blocker up at esconaba, and it looked awesome.
Are the rpm’s also in metric?
Almost every single video I watch I notice you have some kind of super handy tool that I need. Like this/these/that plug gap tool. I'm getting one.
There is no given time for coffee.Any time is coffee time here in Greece.
How do l know that ?, because every few shops is a coffee shop. Frappy, cappuccino my favorite or a Fredo etc. Plus a plethora of pies or Baggett to have. Yummy plus a multitude of different coffee beans they use. Cappuccino when driving cannot beat it.
Love living here in Greece 🇬🇷 they know how to live.
Does no one regap plugs if the electrode is in good shape?
I use the same round needle nose pliers the remove these wires. They sell AC Delco wire sets with shields at Rock Auto for about $50
I used to do the S-10 V6's through the fenderwell. It made the job so much easier and faster.
Number 7 is a beotch.
On my Dodge, I can change the instrument cluster from miles to kilometers by pushing a few buttons. Maybe that Chevy can do the same?
Ray dated this video with that Santa Claus Coke can… 😊
I miss drinking Coca Cola (can’t anymore due to surgery) 😎
No torque settings for spark plugs anymore mmm ,but my buddy's are HERE 🤔🤨😠🫣😓 BUT MY BUDDIES HAVE TO COME FIRST.
YOUR JOB AND FAMILY COME FIRST UNLESS THEY PAY YOUR BILLS THEN IT'S OK.
My Xmas wish …. Ray , Wife Unit and Dave pack it out of FL and open a shop in northeastern Ontario Canada . I get to be his first customer . Santa?
Last one on the right side is the worst
Mondays are now Meat Manipulation fundays🤣😂
These are here, those are there, eether or eyether, the answer is neither!
Luna is a good girl. She stays close to her mommy.
Monday misfires fixing Monday misfires? lo
As long as you do not have to fight with the liner to re and re I would say the job without the liner looks easiest.
Correct me if I’m wrong but shouldn’t your pliers be gripping the rubber part of the boot instead of the metal part of the boot? Doesn’t seem like you would be breaking plug wires as often. Just wondering. I don’t use pliers on wires.
I get why you use dielectric paste on the spark plug boots but why not on the coil pack side?
😄 👍 👌 🎉
I always try more cowbell first….just sayin
Plug wire pronouns are
Them/those
I've seen you done a few of these jobs on this particular platform, it looks like it was easier to go through the fender than up top
I like a Cup of French Vanilla Coffee late at night, of course if Caffeine keeps you Awake, that would be a No-No…
No no ray. Ya got it all wrong
Paw-tae-toe. Pot-tot-oh
Tow-may-toe. … throw tomatoe. 😂
