In this video I go through the process of replacing a battery in a 2006 Dodge Stratus. Always refer to your service manual for the proper repair procedure.

Ludicrous design! Lowering weight is great on race cars, but this is NOT a Formula 1 car. Flat rate to do this right has to be stupid.

I know this is an older video, so you might not see the comment, but I was just gonna say that, yeah, I totally thought you were gonna use the 1/2" impact to tighten those battery terminals lol! I knew in my heart that wouldn't actually do that, but you scared me for a second lol!

my grandmas stratus's frame is rusted away so the battery is being held up by thin pieces of metal from what's left so im trying to relocate hers somewhere.
btw when you said you were gonna use an impact on the battery i cringed and actually said "WHYYYYYY DO YOU NEED AN IMPACT WRENCH ON A BATTERY!?" you got me, man

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Engine Buzz says:

Great video! I had to do the same thing with my stratus expect I didn’t have all the tools and even a shop to do the project. I needed to get to get to work so I just did it in my drive way right here in the city, it only took about 45mins!
Made a video on it for anyone who wants to do it fast, with few tools and on a budget.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars A T GN-008 says:

This brings back memories. Had a '99 Dodge Intrepid in high school and this looks like the same procedure to remove the battery.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joe says:

Car calls for a 75 battery. Would a 78 fit? Thanks!!!

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Robertson says:

    No, it's UNDER engineered.

I’ve had a 2004 dodge intrepid and had a 1999 Chrysler 300M and all I had to do to change the battery was take out the air filter in both cars when I had to change my battery.

Just pre-planned obsolescence. That's how the dealership gets into your pocket.

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Bowles says:

I might be the only one in the comments, but I prefer the battery to be in this location. If you are engineer t makes sense because you don’t have to run complicated wiring to the rear of the vehicle.

I've got a 2001 and replaced the original battery about a year ago. I hesitated replacing the battery for a long time thinking it was going to be hard. After finally replacing the battery I realized it was simple and now I think this is actually a great place for a battery. One little problem, maybe because the battery lasted about 18 years in a better environment than on top, was that the negative cable was welded to the battery. Had to take out the battery with the cable and saw off the battery terminal.

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars charlie Cox says:

What's up with all the thumbs down this is the way you do them too many haters good job brother nice video

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 6977warrior1 says:

LOL, every comment is negative towards this piece of shit car and its battery placement. I have a 2004 and was puzzled today when looking for the battery. Went right to YT to find it. Waterboard the engineers.

Wow that’s an old battery the battery in my f150 is 10 years old!

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars GNX157 says:

May seem like an odd place for a battery, but I've seen some that were under the hood that were a bitch to get out too. In front of the wheel though it's much cooler than under the hood, heat being a major killer of batteries. Probably why this one lasted so long. Leaves a bit more room topside as well.

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rob Smith says:

Another thought, look how long that battery lasted and the condition of the cables, maybe in the engine compartment leads to an early demise of the battery? You think?

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Chiodetti says:

The 09 Dodge Avengers had the same location, I got used to doing them with one floor jack and one jackstand.
The worse one I had, I wish I knew what I did with the picture, you'd get a chuckle from it.
OVER 2 INCHES THICK OF GREEN AND WHITE CORROSION on the plus and minus cables ! ! The plus cables had to be replaced , the ends were gone! The negative took some cleaning, but it worked.
The tray, brackets, bolts, etc were bead blasted and repainted with Rustoleum black paint, and FINALLY all put back together!
This vehicle had several Periodic Maintenance Inspections or P.M.I.'s before I got it, so the saying that day was….."P.M. MY ASS!" Memories. Great Video!

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars HURICAIN RIP says:

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars tunin tunin says:

Never seen this before… crazy spot for a battery

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Oldbatwit says:

Looking at the appearance and condition of the battery case and the terminals maybe it's not such a bad place to put the battery after all.

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Duncan Mac says:
