2000 Chevrolet 2500 This is the gaser, not the diesel customer states, do some maintenance on it and we're going to do a quick little preview of our transmission fluid condition. I Have a can of cleaning agents circulating through the transmission as it comes up to operating temperature. we can see the color of the old fluid, but we're going to see a new fluid and an old fluid exchange take place and this video is here to show you the color differential and just how weish this machine can be. Here we go.

We just, uh, selected it to process. that is the new fluid from inside of the tank. We install it through that little funnel there that's the old fluid as it is currently exiting the vehicle. Let's give this 5 or 10 minutes and see what we get.

We're done. We got a pressure differential on the two gauges, a little bit lower on the new side. That means the internal valving has actuated and we can see Shiny Red shiny red, no more black ruined fluid. This operation is complete.

It's nothing personal, but, I used the machine before at a couple of garages I've worked at.
Sometimes it's ok. Sometimes that's last time that transmission will move at all. Then the filter is still not changed. I won't take the chance.

This exchange is satisfying to watch. In our bg-devises prism has only one passage but you see when the old changes to new! Love it

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @randyblanton3684 says:

NEVER EVERY FLUSH YOUR TRANSMISSION UNLESS IT JUST WON'T MOVE AT ALL, THEN YOU MIGHT AS WELL TAKE A CHANCE. Otherwise you could turn a working transmission into a broken pile of junk that won't even move.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @jseen9568 says:

I think the biggest issue many people have is with the "universal" fluids. Some transmissions (6r60, 6r75, and 6r80) are very particular about the fluid and the universal fluid does not meet the viscosity

Nopeโ€ฆ I wonโ€™t do itโ€ฆ All that โ€œdirtโ€ is the friction material that was once on the friction platesโ€ฆ Less friction equals more slippingโ€ฆ What friction you had (in that dirty fluid) is goneโ€ฆ

I just changed my trans pan as it was about rotted through.. I reused the old fluidโ€ฆ ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Isn't there a risk to cars with high millage that never had it done? I've been advised not to do it on my older car with over 200k kms.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @ryanstage3912 says:

Wish you could use that on my 2018……its a PITA to change and impossible to flush.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @karlbehning1588 says:

Scam! Never flush transmission. Scotty Kilmer says this is bad. Just drain and refill!

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @brockbaker3able says:

You never flush a transmission. Creates more issues than it fixes. Drain and fill every 30k. My 350k focus that shifts 2% out of factory spec is evidence. Smooth as silk.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @johncoristine2699 says:

what do you do with the filter within? all that fresh fluid isn't worth spit until the filter gets changed!!

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @Aprilseahorse says:

Personal speaking, I will not use cleaning fluids on a trans unless I am trying to fix a already Synthematic problem. I have seen too many high mileage trans completely fail shortly after a maintenance only service. A GM factory rep explained to me that in most flush and condition chemicals will work great for a short time, but that's because they make seals swell. Then they split and fail completely. Maybe there is some brands out there now that are safer. But I still don't trust them. Just keeping up on regular maintenance is the best thing you can do.

There's no such thing as lifetime transmission fluid.
Well, technically there is. It's in there for the severely shortened lifespan of the transmission.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @JohnNguyen-iw8qn says:

I've been warned on my vehicle if I did that the transmission would fail soon after.

My wifeโ€™s 03 Tahoe has 286k on it and I fluid exchange it every 2 years since it got to 150k. Still going strong. Never opened her up. Also have a 85 Toyota 4Runner with 424k . But if your fluid gets dark and smells like burnt candle wax? Not even the lord is going to help. Itโ€™s burnt toast and then your screen will stop up with failing component material.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @garys9694 says:

Not such a good idea to fully replace the old fluid. Most manufacturers don't recommend it.

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @dannybryant6873 says:

I do the easy trans oil change on my 06 Honda odyssey every oil change (About every 1.5 years, I mostly only drive it once a week). Let out the 3.3 quarts that will come out easily, then add new oil down the dip stick tube (a turkey baster makes a good small funnel). Still low mileage at only 117k miles so no crazy big number of miles to report. But no problems to report either.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @GruntUK says:

If the fluid is contaminated and almost black then regardless of how good the new fluid looks the old filter is still compromised and should be swapped out. Always used to be good practice to install new filters with new fluids, it seems that quick fluid change systems are making this less common.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @kenanderson2515 says:

If the vehicle has 150,000 miles or more I donโ€™t believe this is a good idea.

We flush all our Transmissions, we run a fleet of around 50 trucks, and in the 17 years I have worked there we have maybe replaced three transmissions. And that's running the trucks to around 250k before selling zim. The only time a flush is not good is if the transmission is already damaged, then it just expedites the eventual outcome.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @brianwintermute9551 says:

Regular trans fluid changes are a must. If there is a filter, change that too. Prevents wear, protects the seals and will keep the transmission going for a long time. Cheaper than replacing the transmission.

Rain man does a great job using the machine, if you can find a mechanic that takes this much time to get it right, you are getting your moneyโ€™s worth, I would never do this at a 10 minute oil change place , with a kid working his first mechanic job .

Scotty Kilmer has said that unless the transmission fluid has been changed regularly it may not be a good idea to flush out the old fluid for new fluid because you will lose the viscus properties in higher mileage vehicle and then it's bye bye transmission.

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @josephmartin7673 says:

It's probably on a regular schedule of fluid changes. My xmission tech said that if the transmission is 150k and has never had a change a change instead of a flush would be appropriate.

Jeep 545RFE with a Hemi beating on it. 180k and OEM fluid. Looks like new. I will eventually need to drain some of it to replace the pan. It is almost rotted out. I don't consider it a scam if the fluid has been overheated. Otherwise, it's a waste.

  54. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @eddykirksey8836 says:

That's great! But, you still have a dirty filter!

  55. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @alanm.4298 says:

Question… Do the fluid replacement before or after dropping the pan to install a new filter and pan gasket?
On the one hand, changing the fluid first would mean the new filter only sees clean, fresh fluid. However it also means some of the clean, fresh fluid would be wasted when the pan is dropped to install the new filter.

  56. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hola! @karrpilot7092 says:

The service manual for my Pontiac said to change the fluid and filter every 50K in the transmission.

I did exactly that. No flushing, no cleaner, no additives. I got rid of the car with 263K on the clock and the original transmission was never out nor was anything else done to it.

I follow this procedure with all the other cars in my family and no issues.

I use this machine at work all the time. Itโ€™s great. Uses the transmissions own pump to push fluid through. The storage bladder has new fluid on one side and old fluid on the other. Folks stating a flush is dangerous are echoing statements from old tech. Change your fluid every 30k or so. Donโ€™t let it get to the point where it looks like old diesel oil.
