Watch this this is going to be really cool. It's plugging away. These are not two separate chambers in this master cylinder. It's one, singular chamber see the fill line.

It's filling up, oh my bottle is empty experiment failed. I need a new bottle. Another okay second bottle prepared. This is actually the experiment.

That's what i wanted to illustrate just basement. It's a full bottle right. There, okay, see how the fluid will not exceed the lip of the bottle. It's because oil cannot flow out of this bottle because there's no air to displace the fluid that may or may not come out and since fluid can't come out, it can't overfill this reservoir science.

Now the cool part is, is once the fluid machine. Evacuates fluid from the brake caliper, this level will drop and, as this level drops, it will allow air to reach the lip of this bottle and then once air reaches there, air can go in some fluid can come out and it'll maintain a full level on this Reservoir very good hope you guys found that interesting. I sure did thanks for watching have a great day see you guys later.

Plan on changing Dot 3 fluid tomorrow, will use Ray's method to keep reservoir full. 👌

That was a good one sir. I had always wondered how I would bleed brakes myself if I had to keep going back and forth from the bleed screws to check the fluid level. I think I can do it now.

It's a pet waterer. I always wondered why people still bleed using the old pump and release way when there are simple and cheap devices to pull a vacuum on the bleeder valve.

You're giving me anxiety with the brake fluid shenanigans. I hate that stuff!

But but but you didn't show the part where the bottle half empties out after the brake reservoir is full, then take the bottle off and see what happens, maybe nothing if the hand is quicker then the eye….

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Biały says:

From scientifical point of view your explanation is not corect.
Fluid is not stoped by the lack of air as there is plenty of air as you doing it in the Earth atmosphere(on the ground level)…
Fluid is not going out because there is air pressure and that pressure is pushing on that liquid and stoping it from flowing out of the container.
Earth pressure is equal to 10m/30feet column of water, that is why container with heigh of over 10m/30m would not act according to your explanation.
That is why vacume pump can't be used to pump water out of the ground if the underground water is 10m or more below the level where you are planing to mount the pump.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars BigWheel says:

I do this with brake fluid reservoirs and DOT 3 where I work.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Yowser says:

IMHO: Better thing is to siphon all the old brake fluid out of the container and replace it with new fluid before bleeding the brakes. Don't do that, you are bleeding lots of old contaminated fluid through the system… which takes longer.

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars corey fairbanks says:

You can do this with a bottle of beer.

Stick a bottle in a glass of water, and you can see the alcohol move from the bottle, into the water, the water in the bottle will stay.

    Alcohol is heaver than water.

But that is a waste of alcohol……..anyways.
